January is Mental Wellness Month. a time to focus on care that supports our minds, not just for a moment, but for the long run.

Mental wellness means reducing stigma by talking openly about mental health. It means replacing shame with understanding and meeting ourselves and others with compassion.

It’s also about meaningful, consistent self-care, the kind that goes beyond trends and actually supports your daily life. Small steps, taken regularly, matter more than perfection.

Mental Wellness Month is a reminder that access to support matters. Everyone deserves resources, education, and services that make care possible.

And finally, it’s about creating safe spaces. For yourself. For others. Spaces where people can rest, ask for help, set boundaries, and do what they need to care for their mental health.

This month (and every month) your mental wellness matters. 💙

The Nevada Teen Peer Support Text Line is a stigma-free, non-crisis peer support text service for adolescents and young adults ages 24 years and younger.

Youth can text in at 775-296-8336 from noon to midnight 7 days a week and 365 days per year to be connected for a one-on-one text conversation with a young adult Peer Wellness Operator.

The Nevada Teen Peer Support Text Line is confidential and staffed by trained young adult peers in recovery who provide support from lived experience to youth impacted by mental illness or life stressors.

Our affiliate NAMI Northern Nevada is inviting qualified Treasurer to join their working Board of Directors for 2026. This volunteer leadership role is a vital part of strengthening our organization and supporting mental health advocacy across our community.

🔹 What you’ll do:
Help create and finalize the organization’s annual budget
Work closely with the Executive Director, Executive Committee, and bookkeeper (as needed)
Support financial oversight and long-term sustainability.

🔹 Ideal candidates bring:

Background in finance, accounting, or bookkeeping
Strong attention to detail and collaborative skills
Grant knowledge is a plus

🔹 Time commitment:
Approximately 5–10 hours per month
This is a meaningful opportunity to use your financial expertise to make a real impact for individuals and families affected by mental illness in Northern Nevada.
