Sept. 6-14 is ***dePreventionWeek. The most promising way to prevent su***de and suicidal behavior is through early recognition of signs and the treatment of mental health-related illnesses. Knowledge is the key to action.

There is no typical victim of su***de. Anyone, no matter his or her age, income, job status, or family relationship, could potentially attempt or complete su***de. In many cases, su***de is an impulsive decision. By starting the conversation, providing support, and directing help to those who need it, we can prevent su***des and save lives.

Sometimes, those who need help the most are standing right in front of us.
