Derick Hahn DDS Family Dentistry

Derick Hahn DDS Family Dentistry We are a family oriented dental office that takes a very conservative approach in dentistry. Your dental health is of utmost importance to us.

We are a caring family dentistry office that provides you with quality dental services that you deserve. We use quality materials in our office and work closely with a top-notch local lab for our advanced services. Should a dental emergency occur, we make every effort to see and care for you as soon as possible. There are three core principles we strive to follow:

Building Relationships - At Derick Hahn DDS Family Dentistry we are not only about working on teeth, we are about building relationships. We treat every patient as if they are a member of our family and we look forward to building a lifetime personal relationship. Trust - We feel a trusting environment is critical. Even though we do almost all dental procedures in our office, we really focus on not over treating our patients and will always address your primary concern first. Conservative Dentistry - Even though we use the most proven and durable dental materials available we value a conservative approach. We place a high value on your healthy tooth structure and will do what we can to conserve as much of it as possible using prevention and minimally invasive techniques.

Just in case some of you did not get the practice update email I sent earlier in the week I am posting it below:

I hope you are well and managing as best as you can in our COVID-19 world. We are also doing the best we can in a difficult environment by just taking it one day at a time. I feel blessed and grateful that we are at least open and working with so many companies struggling and workers unemployed.

I wanted to pass along some sad news in case you have not heard yet. My hygienist, Dani, has been on leave since early June. Her little girl Maxi, who is not even 2 yet, is really sick right now and having to be treated by Seattle Children’s Hospital. Dani is being an awesome mom and dedicating herself to her daughters care right now. She is hoping to return to work starting mid-September if Maxi’s treatments go well. Please add Maxi to your prayers.

If you want more details on Maxi’s illness and/or want to help Dani and Maxi you can go to the GoFundMe page her family created which is: https://gf.me/u/ykurfs. Also, if you want to send Dani words of encouragement you can email her at: MaxiGetWell@gmail.com.

Finally, if you need dental work, we are at full operations and able to do any and all normal dental procedures at this time. A super nice hygienist named Jessica and myself are handling teeth cleanings while Dani is on leave. We are taking every precaution to keep our patients safe including air purifiers, aerosol capturing vacuums and disinfectant fogging after each patient. Give us a call if you need dental work or are past due for your dental cleaning. Also, if you have any nervous family or friends that are not happy with their dental office because they are not taking the proper COVID-19 precautions, we would be happy to help. We are taking new patients and will keep your family and friends safe.

I hope you have a safe and joyful rest of your summer in this crazy year of COVID-19.

Be safe, be healthy,

Dr. Hahn and team

Our new "normal". Hope we don't look scary.😱😁

We hope this post finds you and your family in good health. We wanted to give you an update on the status of the practice during the current COVID-19 situation.

First of all, our office reopened starting today, May 19th! It was great to be back to work helping our patients.

Other things to know:
• Appointments will be managed to allow for social distancing between patients. We will be allowing more time between appointments and spreading out patients in the office.
• Please do not bring anyone with you to your appointment unless they are your caregiver or guardian.
• We are also expanding our days that we are seeing patients to try and accommodate your schedules.

While many things have changed, one thing has remained the same: our commitment to your safety. To keep you safe we have always followed universal infection control precautions outlined by the American Dental Association (ADA) and U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

That being said, with the coronavirus so easily spread, extra measures are being implemented. You will see some changes when it is time for your next appointment. We made these changes to help protect our patients and staff. Some of the changes are:
• Our office will communicate with you beforehand to ask some screening questions. You’ll be asked those same questions again when you are in the office.
• We will check all patient’s temperature before allowed into the dental office. We ask that you wait in your car when you get to our office parking lot until we let you know it is safe to come up.
• We have hand sanitizer that we will ask you to use when you enter the office. You will also find some in the reception area and other places in the office for you to use as needed.
• We may look different when you see us. We will be in N95 masks, disposable gowns and face shields. Do not be alarmed, we are required to wear this Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) during this pandemic for all patients.

We are also in the process of upgrading our equipment to contain aerosols:
• HEPA filters are being placed in the ceiling AC units
• 2 large high-powered air purifiers will be constantly filtering air in the office.
• Extraoral suction units are on order that will be used to capture aerosols during aerosol generating procedures. Until the extraoral suction units have arrived we will be limiting appointments to non-aerosol generating procedures unless you have had a negative COVID-19 test result within 72 hours of your appointment.

Unfortunately, the equipment to contain aerosols and PPE is very expensive right now. We want to be upfront with you and let you know we will need to add a small $10 PPE charge to your visit until the costs of PPE return to more normal levels. We are hopeful that most insurances will cover this cost but we do not know yet. We hope you understand.

We look forward to seeing you again and are happy to answer any questions you may have about the steps we are taking to keep you, and every patient, safe in our practice. To make an appointment, please call our office at 425-226-9270 or email us at derickwhahndds@gmail.com.
Thank you for being our patient during and after these tough times. We are doing everything we can to keep our patients safe during this pandemic and beyond. We miss seeing all of you. Be safe and be healthy! See you soon.

Corona virus update:

We’ve sent an email out to our patients of record and want to share it through this platform to those who may not receive our office newsletter.

Dear patients,

I wanted to reach out regarding all the news about the coronavirus circulating right now. Rest assured, our office is currently open and will remain open on a normal schedule. Your safety and well being is very important to us. We wanted to give you an update on the steps we are taking during this global epidemic.

We have always taken great pride in our cleanliness and always follow all requirements and recommendations from the department of health regarding cleaning and sterilization of our dental rooms and equipment. That being said, we have increased our existing practices for cleaning general community surface areas, door k***s etc. to multiple times a day. Being a medical facility we have access to the best antibacterial and antiviral cleaning agents enabling us to provide you a safe place to get your dental work done.

I have talked to all my staff and have directed them to let me know immediately if they have flu like symptoms and not come in to work. I also ask that if you are not feeling well or are caring for someone who is sick with flu like symptoms and have a dental appointment that you call our office. We will gladly reschedule your appointment to a day and time when you are feeling better.

More information can be found here: https://www.kingcounty.gov/depts/health/communicable-diseases/disease-control/novel-coronavirus.aspx

My intent of this email is not to scare you. I feel it is smart for us to be aware of the situation so we can make educated decisions. I’m sure all other health related businesses in our area are taking similar precautions.

With all that being said, we still recommend you maintain your regular dental appointments if you are healthy. Your dental health is directly linked to your overall health and immune system. Therefore, keeping a healthy mouth is just as important as keeping a healthy body and keeping your immune system as strong as possible. If your body has to fight tarter, cavities or infections it is diverting immune system resources to the health of your mouth making it harder to fight off other diseases.

We know these times are a little stressful. Unfortunately, here in the Seattle area we seem to be the frontline in America in dealing with this epidemic. We are happy to assist you anyway we can. If you have any questions or concerns, please call our office at 425-226-9270 or email us at derickwhahndds@gmail.com.

Sincerely,

Dr. Hahn and team

Our Story

We are a caring family dentistry office that provides you with quality dental services that you deserve. We use quality materials in our office and work closely with a top-notch local lab for our advanced services. Should a dental emergency occur, we make every effort to see and care for you as soon as possible. Rest assured your dental health is of the utmost importance to us. Dr. Hahn graduated from the University of Washington School of Dentistry in 2008 and was the President of his dental class. He has twin 9 year old boys who you will see pictures of scattered throughout our practice. He enjoys playing sports with his twins and vacationing to Lake Chelan every year. Dr. Hahn puts a great deal of focus on patient comfort. In our office you will find many things to help you relax, we have customizable music in each patient room, headphones, blankets, pillows, live plants and photographs on the ceiling. We also believe in transparency when it comes to your dental care, which is why in each room we have a computer screen in front of you that mirrors the provider screen, that way you can see exactly what we see. There are three core principles we strive to follow: Building Relationships - At Derick Hahn DDS Family Dentistry we are not only about working on teeth, we are about building relationships.
