This summer our team planted a garden, but none of us had ever grown loofah plants before! 🌿

We watched them grow, harvested them, let them dry… and this week we finally discovered what was inside.

Lo and behold—real loofahs! ✨

Sometimes it takes a few months to reap the bounty of your garden. 🌿

Meowdy!

Welcome to 2026! I'm a few days late, but they only give me so much time on this Book of Faces... 2025 was a big year! We had a lot horses come and go, I have been able to train many new herdmates that way. We had some amazing therapists added to our staff. I was allowed in the clinic, and we merged with an amazing organization that instantly recognized my worth. They say 2026 is The Year of the Horse, but I think it might be the Year Of the Momo... What do you think?

Meowdy -

They call this the quiet week, but I call it **prime observation season**. The holiday decorations are still up, the lobby smells faintly like cookies instead of crayons, and the sensory gym is a little less busy than usual. The horses are on holiday and I've been napping in my favorite sun patch. Every so often when a small human comes in for a session I offer my most important service: purrs, listening skills, and a reminder that nap breaks are allowed.

Between Christmas and New Year’s, the clinic and barn feel like they are taking a deep breath. Goals have been worked on, progress has been celebrated, and now everyone is resting their paws (and feet... and hooves...). Soon we will be busy again—but for now, I’ll keep watch with the horses - guarding the calm, the kindness, and the last bit of holiday magic.

DST will be closed on Wednesday, December 24th and Thursday, December 25th to allow our staff to enjoy time with family and loved ones. Our office will reopen on Friday, December 26th.

Last week we officially transitioned to The Arc of The Ozarks. We had a training during which I met some of the important people from our new head office. Of course they were enamored with me and made me an official part of the team. This confidence has instilled a new fire in me to patrol the facilities better, greet all guests confidently and ensure the health and safety of the whole staff. If you see me out and about in completion of my duties, please be mindful that I have an official job title with responsibilities to complete, and may not be able to dally and play like I did before...

Who am I kidding? They love me because I dally...

The holidays can be joyful—but they can also be loud, unpredictable, and overwhelming. Protection doesn’t mean isolation; it means intentional support. 💛

🎄 Honor routines when possible
🧠 Give advance notice for changes and gatherings
🔇 Create quiet spaces and allow sensory breaks
🗣️ Advocate for your child’s needs with family and friends
❤️ Most importantly, listen and believe them

It’s okay to leave early. It’s okay to say no. It’s okay if your holidays don’t look like everyone else’s. What matters is that our children feel safe, respected, and understood.
