Having an absolute blast out here today. đ
đł Happy Arbor Day!
Arbor Day is a holiday rooted in hope â a day dedicated not to remembering the past, but to investing in the future. The very first American Arbor Day was proposed by J. Sterling Morton in Nebraska, where pioneers longed for the trees theyâd left behind. On April 10, 1872, Nebraskans planted an estimated one million trees, marking the first official celebration.
By 1885, Arbor Day became a legal state holiday in Nebraska, and the tradition quickly spread across the country. Today, all 50 states celebrate Arbor Day, most commonly on the last Friday in April.
And the heart of the holiday hasnât changed:
We should all plant trees weâll never sit under.
Because planting a tree is an act of generosity â a gift to tomorrowâs air, tomorrowâs shade, tomorrowâs children.
So take a moment today to appreciate the trees around you⌠or plant one for someone who isnât here yet.
