Vaccines don’t follow a one-size-fits-all plan 🌍💉 The U.S. vaccine schedule is designed specifically for the diseases most likely to affect children here. Different countries such as Denmark have different disease risks, healthcare systems, and public health strategies, so their schedules may look different. What’s the same everywhere? The goal: protecting children safely and effectively, based on the best available science. Questions about vaccines? We’re always happy to talk - because informed parents make empowered decisions.

The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) recommends setting consistent screen-free times and zones—like during meals and before bedtime—to support healthy sleep, behavior, and development. Create a family media plan and model balanced screen use to help kids build lifelong healthy habits.

Holiday Safety Tip 🎄
RTCPEDS wants to remind families that Christmas decorations are for looking, not licking, pulling, or climbing. Keep ornaments out of reach, secure the tree, use flame-resistant decorations, and check lights for frayed wires—because the only thing that should be lit this season is the holiday spirit, not a trip to the ER.

Tylenol (acetaminophen) is safe to use in children for fever and pain control.
🔹 Decades of research have shown that acetaminophen is one of the safest, most trusted medications for reducing pain and fever in children when used as directed.
🔹 It’s been recommended by pediatricians because of its strong safety profile.
🔹 The AAP reiterates that acetaminophen is safe for infants, children, and pregnant people when taken according to proper dosing guidelines.

Always follow dosing instructions and ask your doctor if you’re unsure.

We continue to recommend the hepatitis B vaccine at birth. This from discusses various myths associated with the hepatitis B vaccine. Vaccines work and protecting your baby from day one means giving them the best possible start.

12/05/2025

The AAP remains clear: every medically stable newborn should receive the hepatitis B vaccine within 24 hours of birth. This universal birth dose is a proven safety net—protecting babies when maternal screening is missed, delayed, or inaccurate, and preventing lifelong chronic infection and liver cancer. We stand with the AAP and with science: keep the universal HepB birth dose.

❄️🍼 Winter Tip from Your Pediatrician: When it’s cold outside, remember the “plus one layer” rule: dress your baby in the same number of layers you’re wearing, plus one extra. Keep hats, mittens, and warm socks on, and avoid bulky coats in the car seat for safety. Keep them cozy, keep them safe! ❄️✨

12/02/2025

Puffy coats and snowsuits don’t belong under car-seat harnesses. In a crash, that fluffy padding compresses and the straps can become dangerously loose. Dress kids in thin, warm layers, buckle snug (do the “pinch test”), then add warmth over the harness—blanket, poncho, or coat on backward. Keep baby’s face uncovered and avoid any aftermarket inserts or covers that add padding behind them. Warm AND safely strapped every ride.
