We’ve been taught to fear birth and anticipate pain. But the truth is that your body is masterfully prepared to cope with all the sensations and intensity labor brings. In a physiologic birth, your body releases its own cocktail of pain killing hormones

✨ oxytocin
✨ beta-endorphins
✨ catecholamines
✨ serotonin
✨ adrenaline
✨ PEA
✨ DMT

These hormones:
• help labor progress
• reduce pain perception
• support bonding
• and lower the risk of complications

But here’s the catch 👇
These hormones can be incredibly shy. They only flow when the conditions are right. Bright lights, strangers, interruptions, and fear can suppress and shut them down.
Safety, trust, movement, privacy, and understanding how birth works?
That’s what turns them on.

One of the most impactful things I did to prepare my body for birth wasn’t a workout, a stretch, or even prenatal yoga.
It was the Side-Lying Release.
This helps relax the ligaments around the pelvis that often grow tight in pregnancy and limit your baby’s ability to descend.

Just this simple movement can lead to:
✨ faster dilation in labor
✨ less pain (day to day in pregnancy and in birth!)
✨ better sleep during pregnancy
Most people are never taught why body balance matters in birth—or how to actually do it.
I teach this hands on in my birth class, because preparation isn’t about being tough, it’s about being informed and supported.
