Comfort Zone is defined as a safe place or hiding place where not a lot of growth happens. When I think about my comfort zone, I think about a place where I don't have to take a lot of risk. Are you in a place in your career where you're not really happy but you are good at what you do. You have a desire to change and grow but It takes a willingness to take a risk and step into a place you haven't been before.
Recently, I had the opportunity to step outside my comfort zone. I was invited to a business networking meeting. It was where I would meet new people and tell about me and my business. Now I'm comfortable and I love what I do but I am also an introvert. Stepping out like this was a challenge. I thought up reasons that I could not go to the meeting. But in the end I made the commitment and got up at 4:30 in the morning to be able to drive an hour and a half and get there in time for the meeting. I enjoyed it an came away feeling positive and uplifted.
Many people live their lifetime eating the same food, wearing the same clothes, never traveling out of their town, not willing to take a risk because it might be "too scary". I have found that, for me, staying in my comfort zone or bubble, puts a glass ceiling over my life. It limits where I want to go and what I want to experience. I'm not saying, I'm fearless, but I try to practice "feeling the fear and doing it anyway".
What holds you back from moving forward? What are the borders of your Comfort Zone (i.e. where do you feel safe and what does it look or feel like)? Do you have a dream or a goal but don't know how to move towards it?
To move forward, we have to change patterns. Do things to shake it up a bit. For example: take a different route to work; change your morning routine, put your make-up on in a different order. Do these kind of changes for a week and see how you feel. This will change your brain and your perspective.
