April is Parkinson's Awareness Month! Parkinson's disease is a progressive neurological movement and neuro-cognitive disorder that can affect mobility, cognition, speech, and voice function. We asked two of our patients, Linda and Lucia, about how they navigate life with Parkinson's. Throughout the last few days of April, you'll hear through their words how physical therapy and speech therapy has helped them overcome their challenges with rehabilitation programs here at OneRehab.

We want to share with you all what our therapists are up to outside of the clinic!

Tomorrow, Alma and Alden will be presenting in an online education series called "Working with Therapies" for the Huntington Disease Society of America.

These two have personal experience in working with Huntington's disease. The goal of this presentation is to share why speech and physical therapy can be a great benefit to rehabilitation programs for patients.

From Alden: "Huntington's patients are a population that often aren't assessed and treated by therapy in the early stages. I think it's important that medical providers and physicians know the benefits that we as speech, physical, and occupational therapists can bring to the patient's medical team."

Looking forward to seeing what these two bring to the (virtual) table tomorrow!

Today is World Health Day! This national holiday was created by the World Health Organization to raise awareness and about the importance of both your physical and mental health.

Some of our favorite ways to be mindful include weekly meal prepping, yoga, and staying off technology for an hour before bedtime.

Today is also National Walking Day! We encourage everyone to go out and enjoy the beautiful weather with at least 30 minutes of activity.

People who regularly walk have improved circulation, less arthritis pain, and generally are in a better mood. Join us in taking the first step into a more active and healthy lifestyle!
