Meltzer Counseling clinician highlight: We are so fortunate to have Ethel Wandeka as a Graduate Intern Therapist supervised by Jane Kong LPC-S. She is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology after years of clinical work in Uganda.

Ethel works with children (ages 7 and up), adolescents, and adults, and has several years of clinicial experience supporting clients presenting with anxiety, depression, stress, life transitions, self-esteem concerns, relationship challenges, health concerns and substance use-related issues.

Her clinical approach is client-centered and culturally responsive, incorporating evidence-based interventions such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) skills, as appropriate to the client’s needs. Ethel focuses on helping clients build coping skills, emotional regulation, and insight to support meaningful growth and emotional well-being. She has been providing clinical services in Uganda since 2018 and has a breadth of experience. She is able to offer reduced fees to improve access to care. Meltzer Counseling wishes everyone the opportunity to reconnect with ourselves, each other, with nature and to recharge and reset this holiday week. We can better care for others if we create opportunities to renew ourselves physically and emotionally. Holidays are challenging for some. Pausing to share kind words, appreciation or an unexpected invitation may be much more meaningful than we can possibly know. Definitely unique, it came with lights, treats and maybe some of the best home baked Cinnamon bread! We have both in person availability and are providing telehealth for all ages throughout Texas. Clinicians trained in communication and various types of therapies including cognitive behavioral therapy, DBT skills training, social and emotional learning and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). They did an incredible job of distilling the definition of trauma, the various impacts of internalized messages and ways to support clients in understanding the utility of their current behaviors. The focus was how to improve understanding and connection within our diverse communities and clearly both these leaders have a passion for service.
