During our recent Belize mission, our team attended a dedication ceremony for the Ann Shimek Breastfeeding Unit at Northern Regional Hospital, our longtime host hospital in Orange Walk. Ann was an incredibly talented nurse who helped our Founder Dr. Craig Hobar get LEAP started in 1991. We were honored to have her family in attendance at the ceremony. This project is made possible by the generosity and kindness of LEAP’s donors and done in partnership with LEAP, Northern Regional Hospital, Ministry of Health & Wellness, and Rotary Club of Orange Walk

Drs. Steve Orten and James Suen are currently in Ukraine on the 4th collaborative mission this year. A big focus of this mission will be pediatric neurosurgery, but they will also be providing care for injured soldiers and civilians. Please keep their team in your prayers as they travel and serve the people of Ukraine.

Last week, our volunteers returned from Orange Walk, Belize where they worked together to provide free cleft lip and palate surgeries and hand surgeries. Thank you to our volunteers and our partners, Northern Regional Hospital and the Rotary Club of Orange Walk, for making this possible!

We’re excited to share that Missy Wyszynski has joined LEAP’s Board of Directors! Missy served as LEAP’s Director of Development from 2014-2017. She is the co-founder of Ashlar Projects and is a leader in the marketing and community relations industry. As a marketing strategist, Missy has worked on community impact projects as well as some of the most significant real estate developments in Texas. Beyond her professional career, Missy is deeply committed to community service and has contributed her time and talents to several non-profit organizations, such as Cattle Baron’s Ball, Klyde Warren Park, and DEC My Room, among others.
