Every journey begins with a step...
"So, Joseph and his wife, Mary, left Nazareth,
a village in Galilee, and journeyed to their
hometown in Judea, to the village of Bethlehem…”
— Luke 2:4 (TPT).
Every journey begins with a step — and sometimes
that step leads us where we never expected to go.
Joseph and Mary’s journey from Nazareth to
Bethlehem was not easy. Nearly-ninety miles lay
ahead, and the trip came late in Mary’s pregnancy,
prompted not by choice but by decree. Yet within
that difficult journey was divine direction. God was
quietly fulfilling the greatest promise: the arrival of
the Christ child. Every journey begins with a step
Life often takes us on journeys we would not have
chosen — unexpected relocations, health struggles,
losses or changes that unsettle our plans. Like Joseph
and Mary, we may not understand why we must
travel this particular road. But when we walk in faith,
trusting that God is at work even in the detours, we
discover that we are being guided to the place
where God’s promises will be fulfilled.
At PHS, we are blessed to accompany you on this leg
of your life journey. In many ways, our work and
mission reflect the same traveler’s spirit as we move
forward to find the best way to serve older adults.
PHS employees are the most important resource in
our ministry, and we strive to bring our gifts, skills
and hearts to serve you, even on days when the road
feels long. Our hope is that as we walk alongside
you, you will find purpose, adventure and joy.
The road to Bethlehem reminds us that what seems
ordinary can become holy in God’s hands. As we
walk this road together, may we remember that
every step, even the hard ones, can carry us closer to
the place where God’s promises are fulfilled.
Merry Christmas
