We’re proud to care for our community both inside and outside our walls. On the last Friday of each month, staff can donate, receive a sticker, and wear jeans for the day. In February, proceeds benefit the Richland School District via the Snack Pack for Backpacks program!

So, if you see staff in jeans and wearing a sticker, you’ll know they’re supporting a great cause while enjoying a casual day! It’s a small gesture with a big impact- and a wonderful way for our hospital family to show we care.

Now you can check your blood pressure while you check out a book! Thanks to a grant from the American Heart Association, secured by Heather Thome, RN and Angie Coenen, Richland Hospital Foundation, three Community Heart Hubs were established at the Brewer Public Library in Richland Center, Spring Green Community Library, and Lone Rock Community Library. "It's so great to bring wellness to people in new ways," says Heather. According to the American Heart Association, high blood pressure puts people at risk for heart disease, stroke, and other health challenges. Meeting people where they are to educate about the risks is good for everyone.

Congratulations to our Athlete Spotlight, Derek Franzen!
Here is why Derek's coaches believe he's deserving of the recognition:
"Derek has been off to a great start for his senior wrestling season. However, where he has always shone brightest is withing the classroom. Every quarter Derek is on either high or honors recognition, and he has maintained this throughout high school. His hard work from school always carries over into practice. He has achieved 100 career wins, and the season is still young. What a milestone. He puts in maximum effort, never complains, and truly leads by example. He is quiet by nature, but his actions speak loudly. He has grown into a great leader for our Ithaca-Weston team."
Congratulations, Derek!

Congratulations to our Athlete Spotlight, Macy McKay! Here's why Macy's coaches believe she is deserving of this recognition:
"Macy started off her senior basketball season very strong. Macy averaged 19 points and 14 rebounds in route to Riverdale going 3-1 throughout November. She scored 17 points and grabbed 13 rebounds in a road win against Ithaca to start the season off. In a road game, played at Fiserv Forum, Macy led all scorers with 22 points and 23 rebounds. She capped off the season's opening month with an impressive 26 points and 12 rebounds against North Crawford."
Great work, Macy!

Cardiac rehab is more than exercise. Patients learn heart healthy habits, including nutrition, stress management, and lifestyle changes that support long-term heart health. "Getting our patients to understand what heart disease is, how to prevent future complications, and what it takes to create healthy habits will help them to adhere to long term lifestyle changes as opposed to a quick fix," says Kayla Duren, exercise physiologist. If you're facing a heart-related surgery or in recovery, talk to your provider about cardiac rehab at The Richland Hospital and Clinics.
