I had a 9 yr client today for the first time. She had so many mats in her hair. I could get it all combed out except for the left side of her hair. After 1.5 hrs of combing her dad finally said to cut the mat out and then cut her hair to look kind of better. Which the mat was on the top of her head. I tried to save as much as I could but....
Her hair was damaged from it being matted for 3 weeks.
There is no reason for this to happen.
This child doesn't have depression or mental limitations. What this child has is laziness and lack of care to really brush her hair well cause it's boring.
Unless you know as a parent that without doubt that your child knows how to care for her hair and actually does... you need to brush their hair after they said they did to be sure it's brushed.
$100 dollars later she now has shoulder length hair with shorts pieces on one side.
9 year olds can be mature but young 9 yr Olds are not. Know your child. This one is is very much a young 9 yr old.
