Good Day Kadlec, our fundraising breakfast in support of the Kadlec Foundation, will be held at 7:30 a.m. on Thursday, March 26 at the HAPO Center (6600 Burden Blvd., Pasco). You'll dine on morning favorites while hearing impactful stories of exceptional care at Kadlec.

After undergoing life-saving heart valve surgery, Susan Nelson’s path to recovery wasn’t easy. With the support of the Kadlec Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation team, she went from being barely able to do daily chores to confidently walking half an hour on the treadmill.

“I didn’t know anything about rehab, or what it could do,” she said. “It is amazing. They are all there, rooting for you, taking care of you, and making sure you are not working too hard. One day, they came up to me and asked me to slow down a bit. That is very comforting when you are recovering from a heart issue.”

Early detection saves lives!

Did you know that the survival rate for cancers detected at stages I & II is significantly higher and often requires less intervention? Symptoms usually don't appear in these earlier stages, which is why screening is so important.

Alina S., registered nurse in our Intensive Care Unit, is the latest recipient of the DAISY award at Kadlec.

The family that nominated Alina described how she provided exceptional care for their father during his stay in the ICU. “She has been the prime example of what a nurse should be. Not only ensuring that our dad was in the best position, but talked to him kindly when doing care. Talking through what she was doing like she would with a responsive patient. She was an incredible advocate for our dad at a time when he couldn't advocate for himself.”

❤️ Heart attack symptoms in women aren’t always obvious — but knowing the signs can save your life.

This month, we’re raising awareness about heart disease and why it’s especially important for Black and Hispanic women to recognize symptoms early and understand their personal risk factors.

Preventive care matters. Seeing your primary care provider every year helps keep a close watch on blood pressure, cholesterol, diabetes and other risk factors for heart disease.

Are you expecting your first child? Join our next Prepared Childbirth class at Kadlec.
Kadlec offers a Prepared Childbirth class for first-time parents and those who have not previously attended birth preparation courses. Attendees will learn about labor and birth, including pain management techniques and postpartum information.

Kadlec is home to the only Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) in the region. Our NICU is equipped to treat high-risk babies needing specialized attention, including premature infants, as well as full-term babies who need additional care. We’re proud to provide this critical support to our tiniest new community members and their families. ❤️

“Over my 20 years working in the Birth Center, I have had the privilege of helping numerous women welcome their babies into the world. It has been a true privilege to care for women and families during one of the most meaningful moments of their lives. I am passionate about providing compassionate and supportive care for mothers and babies. I value the strong teamwork within my unit and continue my role in nursing because I love my team and feel a strong connection to the patients we serve. Being part of the moment when a family is formed is a truly special privilege and remains the most rewarding part of my work.” shared Bonnie Merrick when reflecting on the last 20 years at Kadlec.

While heart disease doesn't have a single cause, there are risk factors that can make you more likely to develop it, like high blood pressure, obesity and diabetes.

Some risk factors are determined by your genes, but others come from how you live your life. Making positive changes can reduce or even eliminate these risk factors.

Maintaining a healthy relationship with your primary doctor is crucial—they can help monitor your health and let you know when to see a cardiologist. 💖
