The Washington State Death with Dignity Act (DWDA), codified in chapter 70.245 RCW, was approved by voters in 2008 and became law in 2009. The Act affirms that eligible, terminally ill Washington residents have the right to request and self-administer prescribed medication to end their lives in a humane and dignified manner as part of their end-of-life care.
This Dear Provider Letter requires Adult Family Homes to provide written notice of their Death With Dignity Act (DWDA) policy, effective immediately. The Council has drafted a sample policy to support providers in selecting their home's level of participation. If you have questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us.
