🍄 🍄 Today is the last day of Not Your Typical Teen Group for Empaths 🍄🍄 I'm already in my feels about it! But.... cute stickers help to focus on the amazing growth, vulnerability, and learning that happened over the last 8 weeks 🥰

😍NYTTG for Empaths Round 2 started last night! This round we decided to make a scrapbook version of an 🥸Empath Survival Guide. Yesterday we worked on playlists for different purposes. As empaths we are highly sensitive to many things, including music. Sometimes we need music to get moving, sometimes we need it to feel confident, and other times we need a playlist to help us cry it out!

🤓In group, we chat about empath related issues while working on our projects. Today the topic of energy protection came up. We talked about how important duality is in relationships.... in other words when we care and love someone but that person also drains our energy in one way or another. It's ok to care for someone AND make protecting your energy your priority. This is another super difficult one for empaths who often feel guilt for putting their needs first.

⚡️🔥⚡️🔥 I sure know a lot of empaths that struggle with this one! I had a request to see more of the empath affirmations I use in group! Round 2 of Not Your Typical Teen Group: Empaths Edition starts tomorrow so I will work on posting more of these to share with you all 😍

🤩 I got to visit Southridge High School last week! I was supporting a class preparing students for job interviews.

These opportunities fill my bucket! I'm thankful to be living in Tricities and for the ability to work with teens in our community.

🥰 For our last NYTTG Empath, we used affirmations specific to empaths to make locker magnets.

🤩Many teen empaths share the common experiences of having their sensitivities being mistaken for weakness, and the strong sense of responsibility to fix everything and everyone. These were just two of many affirmations the teens had to choose from 💛

💥 Do I only run girls groups? Nope not at all, my last group was open to all but happened to fill with female identified teens.

💥 When will you host more? Summertime makes group easier because it opens up schedules outside of typical after school hours.

😍Current Group Update: My second round of Not Your Typical Group: Empath Edition filled before it was created 😂 In other words, the teens currently enrolled collectively groaned when I reminded them it was the last week of group, and asked to continue. I am excited to run round 2!

😍 A sneak peek at the wall art to come! Creating this space for teens has been fun and incredibly healing for my own neurospicy soul. My goal of course was to create a cozy safe place for teens but with a touch of my own funkiness. Many of the awesome humans I work with are neurodivergent and it was important to me to have pieces in the office that they could relate to. 💛💛💛

🤩 Lobby and group space!! Not Your Typical Teen Group has been hanging out here and LOVING it. Peer groups can be nerve-wracking for teens. I am so proud to offer a space made with teen comfort in mind. It's definitely passed the "vibe check" 🤣 Thank goodness for teen honesty! The faces they make walking in to see it for the first time are my favorite 😍

🤓Couldn't resist sharing a selfie office update this week after I realized I came matching the office 🤩😍

🥳The office was mostly completed way back in December and I'm so glad to finally be able to use it!

💛Still have some work to do with wall art! That's always the hardest for me!

Favorite part of the office so far: disco hanging planter!

🥰 I'll be sharing a couple of office sneak peeks the next week or so! It definitely got client and teen group approvals yesterday.

It has always been important to me to create a space that young people feel at home in. Color, cozy, and fun! Seeing their faces yesterday fueled my soul 🤩 I must be on the right track 😁

About the Therapist

Approachable. Relatable. Nonjudgmental.

I am not your mother's therapist.

In other words, I'm not your typical therapist. My soul age is 5. I wear dresses with dinosaurs on them. I play with putty and enjoy making messes. When other adults ask about my hobbies, I have to quickly think of other, more boring, things to say than collecting toys and fidgets. Just kidding, I am very proud of my awesome toy collection.

I’m also not your mother's therapist because well, I am one of few Child & Teen Therapy experts in Tri-Cities. Therapy for children and teens shouldn't feel stale and clinical, yuck! If you're looking for a therapist that is approachable, relatable, and non-judgmental for a child or teen, I am here to help. Also parents, don't worry, the girl in the dinosaur dress also has a lot of education, degrees, and training too. I'm not all glitter, slime, and putty!
