What is beneficial for the aging process? Everyone wants to know. Some might think lack of sleep and food that accompanies a weekend at a music festival would hinder me in reaching an optimal state of being as I age and grow older, but my soul knows the opposite is true. Aging is incredible allusive. We have different parts of ourselves, this is known as BPSS in Gerontology, standing for Biological, Psychological, Social, and Spiritual, each different facets of us, each holding equal value to the other.

Our bodies, our minds, our connections, our spirit. We actively try to satisfy these different parts of ourselves. Sometimes we can meet some parts of ourselves while not reaching others. Music festivals meet my psychological, social, and spiritual needs while usually not meeting my biological needs (although I try- shoutout to PB&J and h**p heart sandwiches!), people don’t really sleep much at these things (thank you ear plugs). But the way I feel afterwards is indescribable. A sense of fulfillment, of belonging, of inspiration and drive to do more of the things I love on this earth, to connect with others and share our passions. To dive into the things that inspire me and share them with the world.

Festivals remind me how capable humans are to create and sustain beautiful things.

Although exhausting, traveling awakens something in me and plants a seed of gratitude for the city where I thrive. Don’t let society govern what your aging process needs. Only you know what is sustainable for you- only you can create the life that makes you happy to live. You are not just body, you are not just spirit. BPSS- Bio, psycho, social, spiritual- you are a multidimensional, constantly evolving individual. Keep feeding those different parts of you. Meeting your biological needs is only scratching the surface. The wellness world might not tell you this, but social connections are just as important as the food you eat in order to thrive. Prioritize your friends. Prioritize creativity. Prioritize laughing.

A lot of what motivates us to do things throughout our life has to do with the way we want to feel. We want to reach something, somewhere, we want to feel satisfied and say ahhhh. We want to breathe easy.

I’ve always been a mover. All of my life. It gives me life, it has given me life. Movement is what I am. Yoga is what I found, what found me. You don’t have to consider yourself a mover to do yoga (you’re still a mover even if you don’t consider yourself to be).

You do have to be able to breathe.

I didn’t know it, but all along I’ve been out here moving, just so I could breathe.

Move so you can Breathe.

Love,
Zoe

~~Not knowing is starting to feel familiar to me, what about you all? Uncertainty has seeped into my bones, and honestly, uncertainty makes sense. My whole life there has been things I haven’t been able to make sense of. ••Our minds still try to make sure we’re making sure though. We double-check, we pay attention to the news, we communicate what we can so intentions are known, but of course these are all just efforts to know and not really knowing. I realized when I got on my mat while teaching a class the other day, that wow, I am thankful I at least know I have my practice. I might not know what the practice will look like, but I know it is there. We have to accept uncertainty- sometimes, that’s the only certain aspect in life, as this year has shown. •••What I want to offer you, what I want my business to offer you, is a space where you know. A space where you know you’ll be able to breathe and let go and embrace the certainty that a consistent yoga practice can bring, if only for that time. When I curate this space it is empowering. And I hope you know we each deserve these slivers where our mind is satisfied. A quiet place to pause and not question- but just to know, to feel, to not look for answers. Perhaps when we reconcile this not knowing, we could find peace. •••••••
I’m looking forward to (hot) yoga tonight outside at Byrd Park by the Carillon, 7 pm, donation-based. Bring water, a yoga mat and a towel! DM or comment me with questions.

Yoga gave me the greatest gift- Freedom and Liberation. From cycles of aimless living, from a body full of tension and a mind full of grievances and thoughts that may not even be mine 🍃

Yoga is not meant for a certain type of person.
Yoga is meant for Every One.
Literally, every single person.
Yoga in our society needs to be more inclusive.
I don’t know all the answers.
But I’m here to listen- I’m here to let go of things we may have made that don’t sustain the unification of All People.
Black Lives Matter. Indigenous People Matter. LGBT+ Lives Matter.
I want more diversity in my yoga classes.
I’m only quiet because I don’t want to be the one talking, I want to be the one doing.
I think yoga teachers should be the ones leading the way. Let’s lead the way. Let’s create a space for healing for All.

••••I don’t know that many things. Or maybe I do. I think I know something that you don’t, and you know something you could teach me. I think we have potential to learn from every person who crosses our path.
When I don’t know what to do, I move. I’ve been moving since I was able. Ballet was an immediate fascination ages 5-13, Gymnastics and ice skating as a child. Soccer, track, cross country, swimming and dance as a teenager. My entire childhood I got up at 7:30 am 5 days a week all summer long for swim team practice (Hey hey barracudas). I was choreographing dances and teaching them to children in my church dance team as a young teen. The only season I didn’t practice a sport all 4 years of high school my mental health was the worst it’s ever been. I discovered my love of expression through a hula hoop right before I found yoga as a passion. When I did discover yoga I did it every day and I haven’t stopped in 8 years. When I discovered I could link my body with my mind, when I learned my body is mine to adore- everything made sense, when I found out that movement is one of the main doorways to my mind, it all clicked. I was missing a link for a long time in my movement practices. So maybe I do know some things, I know I gotta move, but also breathe. I know I gotta push, but most importantly, listen. And I know I need to share my movement with others, even when i think I don’t know anything and I want to keep it all to myself.

🌼🌼🌼It’s never been about the poses, truly. They’re just the most captivating, the most obvious and photographed. We can only capture a certain percentage of yoga with our pictures and our words.
Yoga is all encompassing. It doesn’t change yet is always evolving. The way yoga served me yesterday is different than today.
Can we listen?
Can we stop following what we think we need all the time? It takes practice to really know. So much practice to separate yoga from ego.
Yoga is not something we wear. It’s reliance. Consistency. Complete surrender to surrendering and acceptance of unknown.
The outer matches the inner.
A glimpse of total Resolution. Towards
Revolution
of Yourself.
It’s not too late, in fact,
it’s actually the perfect time.

Hi friends 💗 technology can be a lot and we’re all learning as we go.
