Maybe it was a coincidence, but I’d like to call it serendipitous timing.
Today marks 4 years without my dad and yesterday I started expanding my studio into one of his old warehouses. Demo was supposed to start 3 weeks ago, but with some delays and the ice, they finished today. Ive spent the last few days reflecting and thinking about him, Tinkers and Simple Fitness non-stop. I’ve always been a “little Tony” as my mom called me, but in the business sense, I find new similarities all the time. I have similar strengths and struggles to him when it comes to running a small business, but I know I’m trying my absolute best and that’s all you can do (as he would say).
As exciting as this expansion is, I’m scared, nervous, stressed and the list goes on haha. I wish I could ask him for help, advice and a hug, but I know he would say “you’re doing good” or “you just keep working hard, you’re going to figure it out”. I remember one conversation we had and he said “I see a lot of people coming in and out of the garage (where I started my business). That’s good. I might have to borrow money from you one day”. I wish that day came, but I know mom will be happy to “borrow” some for you.
Lots more stories, memories and updates to share, but I’m quite tired so I’m going to hit the hay. Thanks for being a part of my journey and for all the support.
You’re friend,
Alex aka “Little Tony”
