Stubborn tendon or ligament injury that just won’t quit?
Whether it’s a knee injury, tennis elbow, Achilles pain, plantar fasciitis, or overuse injuries, healing can feel slow, frustrating, and totally un-fun. But here’s a game-changer: PRP injections (Platelet-Rich Plasma) might speed up recovery and get you back to doing what you love—faster, naturally, and without surgery!
👉 What makes PRP special?
PRP uses your own blood to fuel healing—doctors draw a small sample, concentrate the growth factors and platelets, and inject them right where your tissue needs support most. These concentrated growth factors help stimulate tissue repair, regulate inflammation, and give your body’s healing process a boost.

🔥 Why patients love it:
✅ Speeds recovery compared to traditional rest treatments
✅ Minimally invasive & non-surgical
✅ Low risk because it’s your own biology
✅ Helps reduce pain and improve mobility over time

📅 What to expect:
Most folks can resume light activities soon after treatment, and many start feeling improvements in weeks—while the full rebuilding happens over the months that follow.

Curious if PRP could unlock better healing for you? Let’s talk—our team at Chronic Care of Richmond is ready to walk you through your options with personalized care and science-backed insights 💙

🦋 January is Thyroid Awareness Month

Hashimoto’s disease is an autoimmune condition where the immune system mistakenly attacks the thyroid—often leading to fatigue, weight changes, inflammation, and hormone imbalance.

One of the most important (and often overlooked) connections? 👉 Your gut.

Your gut is home to the majority of your immune system, and gut integrity plays a major role in whether autoimmunity is triggered, worsened, or supported toward healing. When the gut lining is compromised, the immune system can stay in a constant state of overdrive.

That’s why nutrition matters so much when managing Hashimoto’s and other autoimmune conditions.
🥗 Gut-healing, nutrient-dense foods help:
✔️ Support immune balance
✔️ Reduce systemic inflammation
✔️ Improve thyroid and metabolic function
✔️ Promote long-term healing—not just symptom management

Food can either fuel inflammation… or help calm it. Choosing the right foods is a powerful step toward feeling better with autoimmunity.

💡 We say this all the time at Chronic Care of Richmond & Weight Loss RVA:
What you PUT IN your body is just as important as what you DO to your body.
Comfort foods can feel good in the moment—but some may quietly fuel inflammation and chronic pain. White potatoes, for example, are a nightshade and can increase inflammation for many people, especially those dealing with joint pain, arthritis, or ongoing discomfort.
The good news? You don’t have to give up the foods you love—you just need smarter swaps. 🙌
🥦 Cauliflower has become an amazing alternative to white potatoes and can be roasted, mashed, or riced for a gut-friendly, inflammation-reducing win.
Small nutrition changes can support:
✔️ Reduced inflammation
✔️ Better joint and nerve health
✔️ Weight loss and metabolic balance
✔️ Long-term pain relief
Be kind to your body—it’s doing a lot for you. 😉

Everyone has a story...this is ours.

This particular story begins in 2005. Dr. Snyder had been in practice for 3 years and he and his wife, Jenneane, had a beautiful baby girl. While playing basketball one day, he took a hard dive that, even after he got home, bothered him. He iced it and went to bed. Suddenly, at 2 AM, he fell out of bed and had no idea what was happening. His wife, Jenneane, was startled — she turned on the light and asked him what was wrong. When he couldn’t respond or move, she knew something was wrong and called an ambulance.

After arriving at the hospital and extensive testing, it was determined that Dr. Snyder had a stroke. He was 31. It was later determined that when Dr. Snyder dove for that ball, he had wrenched his neck so badly that his carotid artery had torn. As the body tried to heal, the clot that had formed broke off and traveled to his brain and lodged in his left temporal lobe, causing paralysis of his right side and the inability to communicate.

Fast forward two years. After intense speech, physical, and occupational therapy, his neurologist looked at him and told him that “this is about as good as you’re going to get.” At this point he was still struggling to read his now 3 year old daughter’s books, so needless to say, he was not going to settle for that. After extensive research, he found a chiropractic neurologist across the country who had success working with stroke patients. After explaining his story, the doctor told Dr. Snyder, “If you do what I tell you do, if you follow the nutritional and brain based protocol that I lay out, in 6 months no one will be able to know that you’ve had a stroke.” Then, he continued, “you are going to go back to school, learn how to do all the protocols that I teach you, you are going to completely change your practice to include functional medicine, and you are going to change your community.” And that is just what Dr. Snyder did. He followed all protocol, his brain healed, he went back to school, and has been changing his community ever since.
