This week, Shirkey Hospice helped make a patient’s heartfelt wish for relaxation come true with a rejuvenating self-care day.

Our journey began at the serene and historic Elms Spa, where our patient was treated to a calming Swedish massage by a gentle and caring therapist. Surrounded by peace and comfort, it was a moment to simply breathe, let go, and feel cared for.

Afterwards, we returned to Richmond to share a delicious lunch at Branded Steakhouse, capping off the day with good food and great company.

It was more than just a spa day—it was a day of dignity, joy, and personal renewal. These little moments mean the world, and we're honored to help make them possible.

💙 What If… One More Day Date Together

After 18 years of life, love, and shared memories, a couple receiving care from Shirkey Hospice wished for one more day date — a simple but deeply meaningful visit to Culver’s in Liberty, Missouri.

Thanks to the Shirkey Hospice "What If" program, we were honored to make this moment possible. Our hospice nurse and aide lovingly accompanied the couple, with transportation provided by one of our incredible volunteers.

Surrounded by familiar flavors and shared laughter, they enjoyed their favorite meal and the comfort of each other's company. It was a beautiful reminder that love, dignity, and joy have no expiration — and that every day offers a chance to create one more memory.

We’ve Expanded Our Services: Palliative Care is Here

Shirkey Hospice and Palliative Care is now providing palliative care—specialized medical support for people living with serious illness.

Unlike hospice, palliative care is available at any stage of illness and can be provided alongside curative treatments. Our team of healthcare professionals works with patients, families, and physicians to create personalized care plans that alleviate pain, reduce symptoms, and offer emotional support.

This is another step in our commitment to honoring lives with comfort, compassion, and dignity.
