In 2019, Saint Francis – Manchester was granted the opportunity to build an onsite chapel. Since its completion, the chapel has provided a beautiful space for prayer and community, welcoming in residents, staff, and volunteers alike.

Last week, various members of the Richmond community, from corporate; civic; and faith-based sectors, attended Saint Francis – Manchester’s fourth annual Community Briefing hosted at the Virginia War Memorial. We had the pleasure of welcoming Dr. Fred Karnas who spoke alongside Board President, Chris Malone, and resident family member, Brian Bowe, about the ever-growing challenges facing seniors in the greater Richmond region.

New Year, New Outings! Thanks to the geneority of Cathedral of the Sacred Heart, the residents of Saint Francis - Manchester have been enjoying weekly trips to the delicious Gelati Celesti throughout January.

In 2017, Saint Francis – Manchester welcomed the much-needed and heavily-utilized Nutrition Center. This food-storage expansion granted Saint Francis the space and ability to accept weekly donations from Feed More. This partnership has had an amazing impact: leading to lower food costs, greater menu variety, and healthier choices for the residents.

Yesterday, the joyous sound of music filled the halls of Saint Francis - Manchester! Members and Families of Knights of Columbus and Order of Malta visited the residents to sing Christmas carols and spread some holiday cheer! 🎄😊

Last month, the Saint Francis – Manchester residents and staff participated in a fun and exciting Spirit Week! Each day had its own unique theme, and Twin Day had everyone seeing double!

In 2010, Saint Francis – Manchester’s Cran Residence Hall was dedicated to former Executive Director, David Cran, who served in the position from 1994-2010. The residence hall was the newest addition at the time and added 28 new rooms for residents. As of today, Saint Francis’ latest residential expansion continues to uphold the mission of serving low-income seniors with limited financial means.
