Virginia Commonwealth University Health System Dietetic Internship

Welcome to the official page of the the VCU Health (Virginia Commonwealth University Health System) Dietetic Internship.

Founded in 1929, the VCU Health System Dietetic Internship (formerly the Medical College of Virginia Dietetic Internship) is a 9 month accredited internship program through VCU Health System, an 865 bed academic medical center in Richmond, Virginia. This internship is a 9 month supervised practice program accredited by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. The program provides MNT, Community Leadership, and Sports Nutrition concentrations through VCU Medical Center, an 865 bed, city center academic medical center in downtown Richmond, Virginia. The purpose of this page is to share photos and activities of our talented current interns and alumni so that others can learn more about what makes this program unique.

The seniors have been hard at work in post-foundation clinical rotations! Darcy and Becca are pictured together at St. Mary's Hospital, Julia is hard at work with her preceptor Rachel during Staff Relief, and we can't forget the snow with Becca (and her dog) hosting Dori for a couple of days during her Advanced Clinical rotation!

Welcome to the January 2026 class of interns! We are excited for Anna, Sopitha, Sarah, Suzanne, and Charlotte to join us! We enjoyed a welcome lunch with VCUHS preceptors, including Intisar, Laura, and Rachel, to name a few!

Prior to the holidays, our Main Kitchen II interns were busy finishing up the last of their foundation rotations. Darcy, Julia, Becca and Dori pose for a picture with their bulletin board; Julia is also pictured leading one of the daily kitchen huddles!

Interns are back and already busy in the new year, but they had some time to celebrate over the holidays! A fun intern get-together was had, complete with a spelling bee! Julia and Becca are pictured having some friendly competition!

Our Main Kitchen II interns are hard at work in their rotation! Darcy, Dori, and Becca are busy checking trays for accuracy before they leave the kitchen, while Becca is also prepping pulled pork! Lastly, the interns did get some Thanksgiving time off as Becca drops Dori off at the airport for a quick trip home!

Our former junior, now senior interns, are hard at work but have also found time to unwind! Dori, Julia, and Darcy scrub in for a PEG placement! After work, Kristen's birthday was celebrated! 🥳🎉

Graduation for Mya, Kaitlyn, and Intisar was last Friday! Here are a couple of pictures from graduation, celebrating with Stephanie, Carrie, and Sarah (as well as preceptors and family)! Again, congratulations to each of you!
