Actinic Keratosis are precancerous growths on the skin that can present as an age spot, pimple, or skin irritation. Now up on the website: Recently the DAV offices came together to donate items to Afghan refugees. These offices filled over two car loads of goods including personal care items like soaps, toothpaste, toothbrushes, as well as items for children including coloring books and crayons. Thank you to all who donated!

May is Skin Cancer Awareness month! With over 5 million cases diagnosed in the United States each year, skin cancer is America’s most common cancer.

About 90 percent of nonmelanoma skin cancers and 85 percent of melanoma cases are associated with exposure to ultraviolet radiation from the sun.

To help prevent skin cancer, make sure you wear a water-resistant sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30. Stay covered and take caution when the sun's rays are the strongest, between 10am and 2pm.

At Dermatology Associates of Virginia, we are committed to providing excellent care while prioritizing the health and safety of our patients and staff. We are currently open and scheduling patients for such visits as skin cancer screenings, rashes, and lesions of concern. Certain appointments, such as acne or follow ups, can be seen remotely using tele-health programs. If you would like to schedule one of these appointments, please contact our scheduling department at 804-549-4040.



Moving forward, we also ask that all patients wear a mask while in the office. We also request that accompanying family members remain in the car, in order to decrease the amount of traffic in the offices.
