🦋 Hōm by Root VR now FREE! 🦋 Since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic we’ve been working hard to find ways to use our platform to help relieve some of the the many stresses, anxieties, and fears that we’re all sharing. In an effort to make our work more accessible to the individuals and families who could use relief during this stressful period, we’ve decided to make our mindfulness and relaxation-based app, Hōm by Root VR, available for free on the Apple App Store.

We hope that by making this mindfulness and relaxation experience available it will provide on-demand access to a few moments of peace and tranquillity while on-the-go.

Be on the lookout for more free content and resources we hope to make available soon!

We hope you’ll all stay safe, stay well, and take care of yourselves and others during this difficult period. We’re going to do everything we can to try to help.

A very special thanks to CultureWorks Richmond for helping us get the word out about this new Root VR project. If you know any musicians, artists, or other performers or creatives who might be interested in providing their talents to help kids fight the impacts of social isolation, we’d love to work with them!

Call for talent! Root VR is looking for local performers, actors, musicians, magicians, puppeteers, authors, or any other talent they’d like to share to uplift children struggling with serious illnesses, social isolation, behavioral and emotional needs, and more. The Richmond-based company is gearing up to produce new 360-video based content for use with their Virtual Reality-based mental health and wellness tools for children and families -- they need YOUR gifts and talents! The goal is to create a number of short, fun silhouettes that can be shared with children in hospitals, residential care facilities, or overall social isolation. We want to capture your virtual concerts, dances, monologues, educational programming, and performances of any kind! With the increase in isolation and anxieties related to the COVID-19 pandemic, the need for creative alternatives to social interaction, learning, and entertainment is greater than ever; please consider being a part of this innovative solution to help support the mental health and wellness of children and families during their time of need!

To get involved, whether to perform or to help out in any other way, please contact info@rootvirtualreality.com

🖥 Upcoming Web Event! 🖥 Over the last few days we’ve had a number of folks inquire about possibilities to use VR to help ease some of the pains related to work and travel restrictions like those we're currently facing.

Rather than try to answer all of these questions individually, we thought it might make sense to host an free event online and open to the public to give a quick overview of the state of the technology and the possibilities that individuals and companies could be utilizing right now to make the most of their time apart. we’ll also try to dedicate a significant portion of the event to Q&A in an effort to make it as interactive and relevant as possible.

Interested? Please leave a comment below and tag anyone you think might like to join us. Dates and times are to-be-determined, but if there's enough interest we’d love to host a trial run this Friday, March 20th at 12:00 p.m. EDT. Looking forward to chatting with some of you!

👩‍👧‍👦 Social Distancing Reimagined 👨‍👧‍👦 The “new normal” that the world is adjusting to in light of the COVID-19 pandemic is certainly an upheaval of a lot of social norms, but it doesn’t have to be a total upheaval of social life itself. In fact, “Social VR” is one of the areas where VR technology truly thrives, and the current situation is providing an opportunity to begin experimenting with Social VR platforms like AltspaceVR, shown here!

VR presents an amazing new means to not only to socialize, interact, and play games, but also to conduct remote work meetings with teams and even attend remote doctor’s and therapist’s appointments — the opportunities are nearly endless. For more information on how you can begin incorporating VR into your life, workplace, or professional practice, please send us a message or email us at info@rootvirtualreality.com!

✖️SXSW Update✖️As many of you know, has been cancelled for the year, and while the cancellation will have widespread impacts on individuals and businesses in Austin and throughout the world, it doesn’t change the fact that we were incredibly honored to have been accepted to participate in this year’s Impact Pediatric Health Office Hours, part of SXSW’s Startup Alley programming. We’re working with IPH and their partnering organizations to reschedule our planned meetings with some of the nation’s leading Children’s Hospitals and fully support the decisions which led to the festival’s cancellation. Take care of each other and stay healthy and we’ll be eagerly looking forward to seeing you at the next time around the sun!
