VCU School of Pharmacy's American Pharmacists Association Student Chapter

The Virginia Academy of Student Pharmacists is the student affiliate of the American Pharmacists Association. Membership to this organization encompasses the student affiliate, the Virginia Pharmacists Association, the American Pharmacists Association, and the International Pharmaceutical Students' Federation. We promote the profession of pharmacy through legislative affairs, community service, public relations, and social activities. We are proud to represent the largest majority of student pharmacists at the school of pharmacy.

Thank you to everyone that took time out of their evening to attend our event on Ramadan Iftar! We hope that it was a helpful and educational event to learn more about Ramadan and how to support Muslim patients!

Chris and Dani did a great job hosting the OTC competition and congratulations to the winning team that will move on to compete at the VPhA OTC competition during the conference next month!

Thank you to everyone that was able to attend the pharmacy advocacy GBM! We hope that it was informative and motivated you to be more engaged in pharmacy legislature!

Our next GBM will be next week on Tuesday at 12pm where speeches for next year’s exec board will be held! Come and support those running for a position!

APhA is hosting our first Ramadan event on Wednesday, February 25th at 6pm! The event will include a traditional breaking of the fast, dinner, and a presentation on how pharmacists can support their Muslim patients during the month of Ramadan. The event is open to everyone and is CPD approved! Please RSVP as soon as possible!

* Speeches will be delivered in person at our next GBM on Tuesday 2/17 at 12 PM.

APhA-ASP welcomes Johnny Moore, RPh and the VaPAPP team as Johnny shares his powerful journey with substance use disorder and the confidential support VaPAPP provides to pharmacy professionals.
This CPD-approved session (cultural sensitivity, self-awareness & professionalism) will be an impactful one. 🫂

We were busy this past week with events almost everyday of the week! Thank you to everyone that took the time to participate, we hope that it was impactful and that you had a good time!

It was great to see so many students come to be certified to give naloxone as you never know when the situation will arise. It was amazing to see the students who were willing to stay after class to get an opportunity to connect with in state pharmacists. Last of all it was wonderful to see professors and students having a great time at the faculty trivia with SAGCP as we learned new and interesting facts about our professors!

🗓️ The next event will be a Ginger Bread Contest that will be hosted by APhA along with SNPhA on 12/4!

Professors and students will be there to guess different facts about our professors! Snacks will be provided and it is CPD approved for self awareness and professionalism! Our chapter had an amazing time connecting with student pharmacists across the nation, exchanging ideas, and gaining inspiration to continue advocating for our profession.

From workshops and policy discussions to networking and leadership growth, we’re excited to bring what we’ve learned back to campus! 💪
