Let's talk placentas for a second 🏵️
I always include "plans for your placenta" when I'm talking birth preferences with my clients. Some have ideas already but a lot are initially surprised it's even something to think about!
Keep swiping to see what we did with (and see) our really neat fused twin placenta if you want to ➡️🍑🌳
But what are a few of your options?
•You can have it prepared and encapsulated for consumption. (Love to recommend my girl for that! That needs to happen asap after delivery but we make that part easy for ya.)
•You can have an art print made.
•You can take it home and bury it, and I love to suggest under a tree that your family can enjoy for years to come. They store well frozen so this doesn't have to happen immediately.
•You can just take a peek at it, we can show you all the anatomy of it and take a photo of it at your birth location - I call this a "placenta tour" 📸
•It can and will be discarded as medical waste if you don't do anything specific with it.
•Sometimes they're sent to pathology at the hospital if your care team or you are hoping to learn more information from it about your birth.
Not all of these options are for everyone, and that's okay. That's the beauty of learning more about birth, about your choices and then making them based on your unique preferences and goals!
Let me know if you have any questions about any of your options 💕
