Halloween Candy Tips from your dentist!
🎃 👻 🧙♀️ 🧹 🕷 🕸 🍭 🍬
Saliva acts as a buffer against acidic foods. Since we produce more saliva during meals, try to limit candy and sugary treats to meal times. Discourage your kids from snacking on Halloween Candy all throughout the day!
Also, make sure your child drinks plenty of water to wash away sugars! 💦
🍫 If your child is going to eat candy, Chocolate is the best option and will not stick to teeth the way that gummy and sticky candies will!
🐻 Gummy bears, gummy worms, sour patch kids, fruit snacks and other sticky candies will stick to the tooth surface and cannot be washed away as easily by saliva.
🍭 Lollipops and Hard Candy stay in the mouth for a longer period of time and are constantly bathing the teeth in sugar. Try to avoid them.
🌟 Some Alternatives to Candy: 🌟
🦷 Consider xylitol lollipops and hard candies instead! Xylitol is an antimicrobial sweetener. Keep these away from your dogs.
🦷 Trade out some candy with fun toys!
🦷 Donate any unwanted Candy
Remember — everything is best in moderation! Have a safe and wonderful Halloween everyone! 🧡 🧡 🧡
