Cold temperatures can cause your body to lose heat. As a result, you may be at risk of developing hypothermia or frostbite. Some people are at a higher risk for hypothermia or frostbite. Those at higher risk are older adults, those who stay outdoors for long periods, and infants sleeping in cold rooms.
โข Wear a warm hat that covers the ears, wool socks, a waterproof coat, and consider wearing layers.
โข Keep walkways free of ice.
โข Prepare your home by having the heating system serviced, examine fireplaces and chimneys, and check smoke and carbon monoxide detectors.
โข If youโre venturing outdoors alone, notify family or friends when you expect to return.
