Every weekend at Sportable is full of potential for ALL abilities, and this past weekend was a busy one!

🏀 Had a blast hosting the 3x3 Wheelchair Basketball Extravaganza with Kelly Brush Foundation Ambassador Ana Jermstad.
🚴 Competed in the Langley Speedway Criterium! Volunteer James S. not only competed with our adaptive athletes, but also went on to earn first place in the Men's Masters 65+ race as well.
🏀 The Virginia Vortex hosted the River City Classic – Women's Showcase and went 3-0!
🎾 Got in some outdoor pickleball practice at Pouncey Tract Park to prepare for the Franklin US Open Pickleball Championships next month. Thank you, County Recreation & Parks, for reserving courts!

The Virginia Adaptive Sports Festival is ONE WEEK from today! 🧡

The Ability Zone, presented by ABLEnow, is bringing hands-on adaptive sports and fitness demos to the Virginia Adaptive Sports Festival on March 15, and the lineup is packed! From adaptive CrossFit and boxing to blind soccer, adaptive cycling, tennis for blind and low-vision athletes, and adaptive golf, you’ll have opportunities to watch live demos, try adaptive equipment, and connect directly with organizations.

Be sure to visit the Vendor Village, presented by Sheltering Arms Institute, featuring 50+ vendors and community partners, and stop by Sportable Row to meet coaches, learn about Sportable programs, and test adaptive sports chairs and equipment.

Plain and simple: Volunteers are critical to Sportable's success. We have FOUR incredible programs that need additional volunteers. Can you help?

⛳ Golf: Thursdays, March 5-April 30 | 5:20-7:30 PM | First Tee of Greater Richmond.
Assist with athlete transfers and assist with golf placement and swings.
🚴 Rec Cycling: Tuesdays, March 17-June 16 | 5:30-8:00 PM | Dorey Park.
Assist by riding alongside athletes.
🚣 Kayaking: Tuesdays, May 5 at Dutch Gap | May 19 at Deep Bottom Park | 5:00-8:00 PM. Assist with equipment management, loading, and with athletes in the water.
🚴 Youth Cycling: Saturdays, April 11 - May 30 | 12:15-2:30 PM | Government Center Trail System.

🧡 YOUTH PICKLEBALL IS HERE! 🧡

Join us as we teach fundamentals for THE fastest growing sport in the country! Pickleball combines elements of tennis, badminton, racquetball, and ping-pong. It's easy to learn and can also develop into a fast-paced game of strategy. We'll teach court mobility, different strokes, rules, and scoring of the game, all while improving strength and cardiovascular health. Learn a FUN new sport with fellow youth athletes and have a blast!
