Practically Prepared

Practically Prepared Practically Prepared strives to provide individuals, families and organizations the tools and resourc Who was his doctor? Where was his medical directive?

My husband works 125 miles from where we live and commutes during the week. On a Friday night, he called to say that he was about 40 miles from home…3 and a half hours later, he still wasn’t home and was not answering his cell phone. The corridor he drives is known for accidents and there have been several treacherous incidents in the last several years. Fearing the worst, I began panicking – and my way of
dealing with panic is to try and plan for every contingency. .. If he needed medical attention, did I know his allergies and enough of his medical history to help? Did he even have one? If the worst happened, did I know the passcodes to all of our accounts? I knew the name of our financial broker but all of his contact information was in my husband’s cell phone. Which company executed his life insurance? What were his final wishes? What would I tell our toddler son...and how could I manage crisis - gathering all the necessary information - while being the mom he would need? Fortunately for me, my husband arrived home a while later – safe and sound. But that weekend we started talking…could we step into the other’s shoes if something happened? Did we know enough to make the best decisions during a time of chaos? We were faced with the ugly truth; that while we considered ourselves organized, forward thinking individuals, we weren’t prepared. Then we thought: we can’t be the only ones. Thinking led to action…we searched for a company that could meet our need of gathering essential information, planning for the unexpected and talking through some of the tough questions. Not finding the right resource…Practically Prepared was created…your source to plan for when life happens.
