It's World Autism Awareness Day. 💙

Today, an estimated 1 in 31 children in the U.S. is identified with autism.

At The Faison Center, we’re working every day to turn awareness into meaningful support and opportunity – so individuals with autism can learn, grow and thrive.

We’re grateful to the parents who shared their experiences in our recent survey on pediatric care for children with autism. 💙

Your feedback highlighted what’s working, provided insights on where care can improve and helped shape five recommendations we shared recently with the Richmond Pediatric Society.

Thank you for your partnership in helping Faison continue to learn and lead.

Our recent Speaker Series welcomed Dr. Michelle Frank-Crawford of the Kennedy Krieger Institute, who shared insights on supporting individuals with severe self-injurious behavior.

She discussed how strategic assessments can help clinicians identify protective equipment to keep those individuals safe during treatment – and how, over time, those supports can be gradually reduced as progress is made.

We’re grateful for her partnership and for sharing expertise that helps move care forward for those who need it most.

Pediatric providers from across the region gathered for an evening of connection, collaboration and learning focused on improving care for families in our community.
