The Balance and Ear Center The Balance and Ear Center is a full service Ear Nose and Throat (ENT) practice with specific subspecialty in disorders of the ear and balance systems.

Dr's Wayne and Fred Shaia specialize in pediatric and adult disorders of the ear, nose, and throat. This includes chronic tonsillitis, chronic sinusitis, Meniere's disease, vertigo and inner ear dysfunction. Additionally, we have a full audiology department through the Virginia Hearing Center. The Virginia Hearing Center prides itself on working closely with the physicians to identify patient hearing loss and possible need for hearing aids. We specialize in state-of-the-art digital hearing aid devices and implants such as the Cochlear implant and BAHA. Virginia Hearing Center carries a variety of brands and multitude of hearing aid styles. Untreated hearing loss is a risk factor for falls and dementia
October is National Audiology Awareness Month
The Virginia Hearing Center urges the public to be aware of the importance of good hearing health. “Make an appointment with an audiologist and get your hearing checked today,” said Dr. Michelle Brooks “Hearing is one of the most important aspects of our health – it connects us to people, and keeps us vital in the workplace. As we age, untreated hearing loss is associated with other health issues such as your risk factor for falls and dementia.”

Our patient’s safety is our priority!
Due to COVID-19, over the past week social distancing has become necessary to control the spread of the Corona Virus.
In our effort to maintain the proper environment to effectively diagnosis and treat our patients the following steps are being taken:

1. Anyone who has a known exposure to someone who has contracted the COVID-19 virus are asked to stay at home and will need to be rescheduled for a later date.

2. Anyone who has an active fever, cough or shortness of breath will be asked to reschedule their appointment.

3. Depending on the wait time in the office we may suggest that you wait in your car to avoid unnecessary exposure to you as well as other patients.

4. Please bring yourself to the appointment only and if you must have a family member to help facilitate your visit, we ask only one family member per patient.

5. As of March 16th, 2020, the surgical schedule has not changed and we will review this on a case by case basis.

We are taking extra measures to clean and sanitize our clinic and waiting room. Please have some tolerance to this situation and be assured that every effort to maintain normalcy is being made without sacrificing your safety.
