Thank You to Our Incredible Community Partners

On behalf of Morrissett, we would like to extend our deepest gratitude to the extraordinary churches, organizations, and volunteers who helped make this year’s Stockings for Soldiers mission an overwhelming success. Because of your generosity, compassion, and commitment to supporting our service members at Fort Lee, we not only reached our goal — we surpassed it — filling 900 stockings with goodies and holiday cheer for soldiers who were unable to go home for the holidays.

This small gesture of kindness means so much to the men and women serving our country, and it would not be possible without each of you:

American Legion Colonial Heights

American Legion Colonial Heights Woman’s Auxiliary

American Legion in Petersburg

American Legion Freedom Riders

Beulah Church

Bill's Mom & SAFE Ladies

Branch's Baptist Church

Chesterfield Ruritan Club

Dale Ruritan Club

Heritage Baptist Church

Hopewell UMC

Manchester High School

Matoaca Christian Fellowship

Ramsey Memorial UMC

Trinity Community Church

And anyone who we might have missed or whom would prefer to be anonymous.

Your support continues to make a meaningful difference, bringing comfort, joy, and a reminder of home to our soldiers during the holiday season. Thank you for your dedication, your kindness, and your unwavering commitment to this mission year after year, we couldn’t have done it without you.

An additional thank you to the Knights of Columbus for delivering the stockings to the USO.

Most families prefer the burial of a family member more private and personal. Cremation is also convenient for families who don’t live close to each other. The location for the burial is not also a problem because you can bring the urn when you move and you don’t have to go back to the place you lived before to visit them.

Feelings of grief intensify during holidays and birthdays, but also can hit when least expected. To help, we’re sharing 5 uncommon grief triggers:
1. A song with significance comes on the sound system, say, while getting a haircut.
2. Spotting someone who looks like a loved one in a crowd.
3. Updating contact information for a subscription, and see a loved one’s email or cell number.
4. Meeting someone with the same name, age or job as a loved one.
5. A restaurant or store frequented with a loved one has just closed permanently.
It’s important to remember that grief triggers are a reflection of the love and importance of a loved one’s life in yours. Let us know of other uncommon, unexpected grief triggers
