Finding a psychiatric bed (psychiatric hospital services) for a patient or a loved one is a challenging time sensitive task that is growing even more difficult as the number of public beds available shrinks. There are a number of reasons why the closest hospital may not have beds available: they may be occupied, undergoing maintenance, or the facility may not have the staff to support additional patients. These factors may change frequently and beds may fill up or become available. One issue is a lack of awareness of close (and appropriate) psychiatric facilities. Psychbeds.info is designed specifically to help with this. The second issue is lack of real-time information on bed availability and facilities ability to admit new patients. Our ongoing goal is to develop new systems to provide this service and other valuable information to persons looking for inpatient psychiatric care.
