RRH joins Central Valley roundtable with CMS

Ridgecrest Regional Hospital has made significant strides in its financial recovery over the last few years. One of the most crucial components of that strategy has been to build relationships with decision makers, educating them on our needs, and protecting the resources they allocate toward sustaining access to quality local healthcare.

Being able to talk face to face with Dr. Mehmet Oz, administrator of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, was a tremendous opportunity for RRH leadership.

Nuclear medicine gets a boost at RRH

Patients, staff, and physicians alike are thrilled with the enhanced capabilities of the new nuclear camera procured by the RRH Radiology Department.

“We had a great run with our prior Nuclear Medicine camera, but technology moves so quickly in the imaging world that the new purpose was necessary in order to continue providing the most up-to-date and best patient care to our community,” said Lisa Sparland, Lead Imaging Tech at RRH.

Year-end update from Ridgecrest Regional Hospital

Short-term fixes have allowed RRH to navigate fiscal challenges and uncertainty, but only sweeping reform of government and insurance reimbursements will preserve rural healthcare in the long term.

The good news is, we remain solvent. But there is reason for vigilance because some of our essential service lines are not self-sustaining.

A Year of New Beginnings: Labor and Delivery at RRH in 2025

As we reflect on 2025, one of the greatest gifts we were able to give our community was the reinstatement of Labor and Delivery services at Ridgecrest Regional Hospital, made possible through the support of the Department of the Navy. Welcoming 232 babies closer to home and caring for growing families right here in our town has meant so much to us and to the parents we serve.

Each birth represented trust in our team and our commitment to safe, compassionate care. To every family who chose RRH for one of life’s most meaningful moments, and to our dedicated Labor and Delivery team, thank you. We are proud to have served our community in 2025 and look forward to continuing this important service in 2026.

Building a culture of competence and empathy

“When I'm training nurses here at RRH, I am training them to take care of me and my family, too,” said David Foster, Clinical Educator RN.

Investing in our staff means investing in our patients. Clinical Nurse Educator David Foster shares how modern training tools, including our simulation lab, help nurses and providers stay prepared for the wide range of care needs unique to rural healthcare while strengthening staff culture and patient experience.

RRH receives 'Joy in Medicine' award

Ridgecrest Regional Hospital has received its second consecutive Joy in Medicine award from the American Medical Association. RRH is the only rural hospital in the nation to earn this honor and also outperformed the national average on nine out of 10 indicators on the AMA’s annual well-being survey.

This recognition reflects what matters most to us. “Caring for our caregivers is at the heart of everything we do,” said James A. Suver, RRH CEO.
