In a close-knit community, care often begins with connection and trust. In this video, a familiar face in Ridgecrest, John Abbott, reflects on how local Cardiology team care team supported him through a critical health event.

We thank our Cardiology team and support staff for the expertise and compassion they bring to patient care every day and for the difference they make for individuals and families across our community.

💙 Let’s Learn: What Is Heart Failure?

In recognition of Heart Failure Awareness Week, we’re sharing a quick breakdown to help clear up a common misunderstanding.

❤️Heart failure does not mean the heart has stopped working. It means the heart isn’t pumping as efficiently as it should.

❤️Heart failure is a progressive condition in which the heart’s muscle gets injured from something like a heart attack or high blood pressure and gradually loses its ability to pump enough blood to supply the body’s needs.

❤️The heart can be affected in two ways, either become weak and unable to pump blood (we call this situation systolic heart failure) or it become stiff and unable to fill with blood adequately (we call this situation diastolic heart failure). Both conditions lead to retention of extra fluid or congestion.

❤️Heart failure does not develop overnight. It’s a progressive disease that starts slowly and gets worse over time.

Thank you to our dedicated care teams who support patients with heart failure every day through education, monitoring, and compassionate care.
