Have you ever thought about this?

Women deserve to be respected and empowered.

I am a big advocate for women’s health and female empowerment.

The more I hear birth stories for my book or stories about women struggling with their health and not getting proper treatment, the more I realize that this is a problem around the world. Women are not respected.

Mindfulness is the first step.

Advocating for change is the second step.

Hi Everyone!

You may have seen me post a lot about my free in-person events in Ridgefield! I am so happy to be doing in-person events again and to be speaking in my hometown.

Did you know that I have an upcoming virtual workshop too?

It’s this Thursday, November 6 at 3:30 PM Eastern.

What’s it on, you may ask?

It’s on informed consent.

For over 16 years, I’ve supported my clients in my business, The Dancing Curtain, LLC.

And what I’ve noticed from working with women is how many were not given enough information from their doctors to give informed consent or informed refusal.

Many of them were told by their doctors to do what they suggested.

Some felt coerced.

Many were not given the pros and cons of medications, treatments or surgeries.

Most were not given holistic options.

They didn’t feel empowered with their health decisions.

And then, there were the ones who wanted to be proactive and ask questions or do research but they didn’t understand enough to do either.

So if you have experienced one, two or all of these situations, this virtual workshop is for you.

It will be live on Zoom. Join live to ask your questions or to role play.

I will teach you how to get the information to make the right decisions for you.

And I can guide you with holistic options too.

Can’t make it live? Still sign up and submit your questions ahead of time and watch the replay.

The replay is yours to keep.

I understand what it’s like to have a chronic illness and not get the answers from your doctor.

I understand what it’s like not knowing what to do.

I can help you!

Join us! DM me for the link.

See you Thursday!

I remember when I was in elementary school. There was a girl who was so hungry that she ate paper towels. Not the soft, white Bounty paper towels but the brown, rough, paper towels. The cheap ones they had in schools. I remember that she never brought lunch, but had a pass to eat at the school cafeteria. I didn’t understand that her family received benefits. I lived in a rich town. A town the news now calls ritzy Ridgefield.

I was only eight. I didn’t understand what it was like to be so hungry that she ate paper towels in school.

I didn’t understand what it was like not to have food at home.

I didn’t understand what it was like not to be able to concentrate at school because she was so hungry.

I’m sure she looked forward to people having birthdays because then, parents brought in cupcakes for the class. So she had more food.

But now, I’m older. And I see that families need help. Some families are on food stamps or live on subsidized (affordable) housing.

It doesn’t mean their lives are easy. Food stamps doesn’t give them a lot of money. People still have to budget. People still are hungry. And now, the US is ending Snap benefits/food stamps today on November 1. Many families will go hungry. Many kids will be too hungry to concentrate in school. Some may have to eat things that you’d think are strange like paper, paper towels or toothpaste to keep going

But we can help.

Give to food pantries; volunteer at soup kitchens; give food to your neighbors; give donations (money) to social services.

There are also people who work for the federal government who are currently not being paid. They may have kids too. This is a tough time for many.

If you go to Costco and you have extra produce etc. if you have more than you need, give to someone in need. And give often. Make a point to give to food pantries, weekly or monthly, whenever you can. If you pick up something by mistake at the grocery store and you don’t want it, think about donating it to a food pantry instead of returning it. If you can afford that.

People need our help. 350 people in ritzy Ridgefield will be without Snap benefits. Imagine how many people will be without food in areas that aren’t ritzy.

This may be the beginning of a bigger homeless population in the United States.

Give if you can. People depend on it.
