At Six Dimensions, we advocate to protect and support Black mothers, but also seek to educate and empower our community. This Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month, we are grateful for the life and legacy of D’Angelo 🤎

Black women are 3 to 4 times more likely to die from pregnancy-related causes than white women, and most of these deaths are preventable. More than half of maternal deaths happen after birth, when mothers are often sent home and told they’re fine.

Mississippi has one of the highest maternal mortality rates in the nation, especially for Black mothers. Bias in healthcare is real. Education and income do not protect Black women from being ignored or dismissed.

This isn’t a movie. These are real lives, real families, and a real crisis. It’s time to demand care that protects mothers, not endangers them.

Did you know? In Mississippi, diapers and menstrual products are still taxed at about 7%, the same rate as luxury items. For families already stretching every dollar, that extra cost can make basic care harder to afford.

Join us next Monday, October 27 at 6 PM for a live conversation with The P.U.P.A Project and The Diaper Bank of the Delta about removing these taxes and making everyday essentials more accessible for Mississippi families.
