What is plantar fasciitis?
Plantar fasciitis is a condition that affects your plantar fascia, a supportive ligament at the bottom of your foot that connects the heel to the toes and supports your arch.

Most of the time, the plantar fascia acts as a shock absorber when you put pressure on it. But if you put too much stress on it, the plantar fascia develops small tears and becomes inflamed.

Plantar fasciitis develops as a result of the inflammation and resultant heel pain. The stabbing heel pain usually hurts worse after inactivity, such as sleeping or sitting, and improves once you start moving around.

What is athlete’s foot?
Athlete’s foot is a contagious fungal infection that affects the toes and feet. It can spread to your toenails and fingernails, especially if you scratch your feet. The same fungus also causes ringworm and jock itch.

Athlete’s foot thrives in warm, humid environments such as locker room floors, saunas, and sweaty shoes. Any towel, flooring, pair of shoes, workout mat, or other person infected with the fungus can spread the condition.

Symptoms of athlete’s foot include:

🦶 Scaly red rash
🦶 Intense itchiness
🦶 Burning sensation

How does a podiatrist treat ankle pain?
First, the Doctors perform a physical exam and asks about your medical history to determine the cause of your ankle pain.

If your ankle started hurting after a traumatic injury, the cause of your pain might be more evident than if it started creeping up on you or happened overnight.
