Respiratory protocol tip 2

Prince Seng (Tai Zhi Shen)

This is an herb that I take often. It’s a Chinese herb and considered to be the “Ginseng of the Lung”. Specific indications include respiratory insufficiency with fatigue and lung inflammation with dryness. This herb would only apply with a dry cough where mucous is deep and hard to expectorate.

It’s wonderful for dry asthma, COPD, hot pneumonia (infection), hot and dry asthma, bronchitis, emphysema, wheezing and dry cough.

It’s a Yin tonic helping to generate fluids in the body.

It also has anti-cancer activity!

It’s grown in China and the root is used for medicine.

While working in India I contracted bacterial pneumonia. Being a practicing herbalist my first line of defense is always plants. Thankfully even though many of my teammates are very ill I have been successful so far in not having an official pneumonia or bronchitis diagnosis. I have my plant ally’s to thank. Over the course of the next week I’m going to share my protocol herb by herb. It’s my hope to help anyone who contracts pneumonia this season.

First, an almost free and easy but ever so effective kitchen herbal remedy.

You all most likely have one at home.

Onions 🧅

Onions contain both Quercitin and Alliin . Both are powerful antioxidants. Quercitin is also a powerful anti-inflammatory. Both of these compounds are only activated when the onion is crushed. Garlic also contains these compounds. Since pneumonia is lung inflammation this is where the medicinal impact comes.

Don’t let the term antioxidants trip you up. Antioxidants decrease oxidative stress in the body. They promote oxygen. Think of oxidative stress as rust in the body. At the end of the day this process is ultimately what ends our lives. It also creates an onslaught of free radicals (lesson for another day) . You need some free radicals but not a lot. They disrupt cellular function and create conditions for degenerative disease. The more oxidative stress we carry the faster we rust and ultimately cross the rainbow bridge.

Now back to simplicity. Want to loosen phlegm in your lungs? You know that feeling the phlegm is so deep you can’t expectorate? You can’t stop coughing and it hurts? Let’s help with that!

Chop 1/2 an onion and place it in a frying pan with a tablespoon of water, cook till soft and translucent (don’t brown). Wrap in a thin towel warm the towel till it’s hot. Wait for it to cool as to not burn your chest. You can test on your forearm. As hot as you can without burning your skin.

Lie down get comfy rest and sit with the compress directly on your chest and skin for 20 minutes. You’ll expectorate and feel so much better!

This is NOT a replacement for medicine nor will it cure pneumonia, but the comfort you’ll feel is immediate and it’s so soothing.

More tomorrow my friends.

Yours in service and love and care.

The next step in nearly 10 years of plant medicine education and earn my credentials,
I need to write a 125 page paper. Pretty much a masters or doctorate level thesis!

I’ve been thinking and procrastinating about this task for three years 😉
I thought to myself, if I need to write a lengthy paper, why don’t I just write a book!
I would like to write on cancer and herbal medicine, but also want to weave in my personal spiritual journey and stories along the way. I want folks to enjoy reading it.

I’m making a commitment to start today.

All of our lives have been touched by cancer in some way. I’d like to make a positive impact in the world.

I hope you all will join me along the way.

“A wise man does not accumulate for himself. The more he uses for others, the more he has himself. The more he gives to others, the more he possesses of his own. The way to heaven is to benefit others and not to injure”. -Lau Tzu

Spending some time out west. This photo reminded me of now matter how tough life can sometimes be to not lose your power. To keep pushing forward. To move thru challenging times with patience and perseverance. To do the work you know must be done to reach your dreams.
I do love California. The power and beauty of nature here never disappoints. Just tap in and keep your eyes wide open. Accept your faults with dignity and grace and above all with love. For everyone and everything. And dont forget that includes you ❤️

My beautiful garden sage.

A versatile herb good for sore throats, laryngitis. As a mouthwash it’s wonderful for gingivitis and thrush. It also inhibits the bacteria that is responsible for dental plaque!

Used as a tea or tincture it dries up secretions from the sinuses, and upper respiratory tract. Great for sinusitis and post nasal drip.

The Beauty of Spring

Spring is a season of renewal, a time when the earth awakens from its slumber and bursts into vibrant life. The air is filled with the sweet scent of blooming flowers, the songs of birds returning home, and the warmth of the sun gently kissing the earth.

It’s a season of hope, reminding us that no matter how long or cold the winter has been, life always finds a way to bloom again. The trees dress in fresh green, gardens come alive with color, and each sunrise feels like a promise of new beginnings.

Take a deep breath, step outside, and let the magic of spring refresh your soul. Nature is whispering—it’s time to grow, to bloom, and to embrace the beauty of change. 🌿✨🌸 ’sMagic

I’ve been struggling lately with a very painful toothache. Long story on why I have yet to see a Dentist, but I am not able till January.

I again have turned to my wonderful plant friends to help me feel better. While herbs certainly can’t fix tooth decay, what they can do is cure infection and provide temporary relief from significant pain.

I took oil of oregano for three days and no longer have an active infection and my pain has greatly subsided.

I also put essential oil of clove directly on my tooth which offered at least 2 hours of relief.

I’d rather give birth than go to the dentist, but I’ll get there!
