I had the honor of speaking at the Women in Wellness conference this past weekend. I spoke on the importance of considering the whole body-toes to head-when treating pelvic floor symptoms as well as other body systems such as hormones, the nervous system, nutrition, etc. There was great dialogue with follow up questions from the audience!

It was wonderful talking to all the attendees and other vendors that came by my table! Lots of good discussion and connections made that day. Hopefully I will see you there next year!

Everyone has a pelvic floor…even men and nulliparous women…and can experience pelvic floor symptoms.

Kegels won’t fix everything (or could actually make some things worse).

The pelvic floor doesn’t work in isolation.

In fact, it’s often the victim of dysfunction elsewhere in the body.

The nervous system is queen.

Postpartum can be a difficult time for many moms. For some, recovering physically and emotionally from a c-section can make it even more challenging.

As a mom who has had a csection myself, and a medical professional involved in the postpartum care of women, I know that the support from the medical community for these moms is often lacking. Education for csection moms is typically lacking in how to recover physically from this major surgery, as well as support and proper expectations for emotional health.

If you are a mom preparing for or recovering from a csection, do yourself a favor and team up with a pelvic floor PT that can guide you in your recovery. Even if your csection was years (even decades!) ago, you can still do good work to improve the scar and function of your core.

Resilience PT & Wellness has a home!

For over 2 years since starting this business it has been my pleasure serving the Roaring Fork and Grand River Valleys as a mobile therapist. It is now time for me to take deeper root in the community! I’m excited to announce that I will be treating out of a clinic space in the Rifle Mercantile Building. This will allow for more availability, further reach and shorter waitlist times. All while continuing to be western Colorado’s premier pelvic health therapy provider 💕

So shoot me a DM or give me a call at (970)628-0504 to schedule an appointment and come see me at 110 East 3rd St, Suite 212 in Rifle!

***early postpartum rehab-which is for all PP mommas- is still very important to me and I will continue making house calls for mommas up to 6 weeks PP!***

The Cozean Pelvic Floor Dysfunction Screening Protocol is a great way to see if you would benefit from pelvic floor physical therapy.

Check all that apply:
⚪️I sometimes have pelvic pain (in ge****ls, perineum, p***c or bladder area, or pain with urination) that exceeds a ‘3’ on a 1-10 pain scale, with 10 being the worst pain imaginable
⚪️I can remember falling onto my tailbone, lower back, or buttocks (even in childhood)
⚪️I sometimes experience one or more of the following urinary symptoms:
➡️Accidental loss of urine
➡️Feeling unable to completely empty my bladder
➡️Having to void within a few minutes of a previous void
➡️Pain or burning with urination
➡️Difficulty starting or frequent stopping/starting of urine stream
⚪️I often or occasionally have to get up to urinate two or more times a night
⚪️I sometimes have a feeling of increased pelvic pressure or the sensation of my pelvic organs slipping down or falling out
⚪️ I have a history of pain in my low back, hip, groin, tailbone or have sciatica
⚪️I sometimes experience one or more of the following:
➡️Loss of bowel control
➡️Feeling unable to completely empty my bowels
➡️Straining or pain with bowel movement
➡️Difficulty initiating a bowel movement
⚪️I sometimes experience pain or discomfort with sexual activity or in*******se
⚪️Sexual activity increases one or more of my symptoms
⚪️Prolonged sitting increases my symptoms

If you check 3 or more, pelvic floor dysfunction is likely and evaluation by a pelvic floor therapist is recommended. However, sometimes just having one or two of these issues (like urinary incontinence with exercise, for example) can still warrant pelvic floor therapy!

If you’re not sure if your specific symptoms can be helped with pelvic floor therapy, comment below or send us a DM!
