After graduation of Medical School the next step is a 3 year Podiatric Medicine and Surgery Residency. I did my residency at Coney Island Hospital in Brooklyn. This is where I’ve learned and developed all of my surgical skills. I saw a wide array of pathologies which prepared me to handle anything that comes into the office. If you think you have the worst looking foot, trust me, I’ve seen worse! I’m the doctor I am today mostly due to all the attendings that taught me during those wonderful 3 years!

Next stop on the education train is podiatry school! I decided to jump in with both feet, pun intended, and go the oldest podiatry school in the country! NYCPM is where I would spend the next four years getting a spectacular education and a vast diverse clinical experience. This is where I built my vigorous study habits and connections with colleagues I still stay in contact with today!

Next step of my journey took me to St. Joseph’s College, now University. I majored in Biology with a minor in Chemistry. Continuing my love for sports I was fortunate enough to run cross country as well as winter and spring track. My interest in sports medicine drove me to take a work study job in the athletic training room which really solidified my passion between sports and medicine.

Everybody always asks me either why podiatry or why feet?? My answer always comes back to the beginning, growing up on Long Island, I was always playing sports. In high school I ran cross country and played basketball and lacrosse. When I was deciding what specialty I was interested in, podiatry became my choice being that there is a sports medicine aspect. Every different sport has its own unique functions with the foot and ankle. I love treating athletes, especially high schoolers and my job is to get them back to the field/court/track as fast and as safely as possible.

Meet Dr. Justin Donovan

Dr. Donovan graduated from St. Joseph's College with a Bachelor's degree in Biology and a Minor in Chemistry. Dr. Donovan then graduated from the New York College of Podiatric Medicine. He completed his residency training at Coney Island Hospital, serving as Chief Resident during his final year. He was also inducted into the St. Joseph's College Golden Eagle's Hall of Fame with the 2008 Men's Cross Country Team.
