INSPIRATION on Starting Your Day Well:

Each morning, find a way to start your day right as it sets the tone for your day.

The choices you make upon waking can have a profound impact on your day. If, still drowsy, you hit the ground running, rushing to prepare yourself to face your worldly obligations, you will likely feel fatigued and overwhelmed for most of your day. A leisurely and relaxing morning, on the other hand, can energize and excite you, as well as give you the courage to meet the challenges waiting for you.

By beginning your day in a focused and centered fashion, you make it your own. You set the tone of your expectations and choose the mood you will use to respond to your circumstances. A gentle, reflective, and thoughtful morning will prepare you to create a gentle, conscious, and thoughtful day.

The simplest way to eliminate the rush from your morning routine is to rise earlier. Getting children into routines and getting themselves ready as much as possible will also give you more time. Though this may seem like a hardship at first, you will soon grow to love the extra minutes or hours that afford you an opportunity to really enjoy watching the sun come up or connect with your loved ones before you go in your separate directions.

There are many more ways you can constructively use the time you gain. A mere half-hour of introspection in which you examine your goals, thank the universe for the richness in your life, and contemplate the blessings you will receive this day can lift your spirit and help you formulate lasting positive expectations. Likewise, you can solidify your day’s intention through spoken affirmations or the words you record in a journal.

Or, if you want little more than to enjoy your day, devote a portion of your personal time to activities that both ground and delight you, such as meditation, yoga, chanting, singing, reading, or listening to music.

If you feel, however, that there is little room for change in your start-of-the-day routine, try to make each activity you engage in upon waking a ritual in its own right. The time you spend everyday savoring a soothing cup of tea or washing away tension in a hot shower can serve as a potent reminder of the need to care for yourself no matter what the hour.

Your morning is yours and should reflect not only your practical needs but also the needs of your soul. When you center yourself at the start of your day, you will likely find it easier to remain centered during subsequent work, play, and downtime because the overall sense of serenity you create through your choices will stay with you throughout the day.

Enjoy this fantastic blog on yummy ways to nourish your body during this season of low light, dry air, and cold nights. I'm definitely trying the warming oil tonight! Let me know what you think and which practice you are planning to try!

As the air turns crisp, leaves transform into a vibrant tapestry of warm hues and Earth’s critters prepare for the cold – the environment invites us to turn our awareness inward and slow down. In our fast-paced world, taking time to nurture your mind, body, and spirit is a necessity. In this blo...

"It was not witches who burned.

It was women.

Women who were seen as

Too beautiful
Too outspoken
Had too much water in the well (yes, seriously)
Who had a birthmark
Women who were too skilled with herbal medicine
Too loud
Too quite
Too much red in her hair
Women who had a strong nature connection
Women who danced
Women who sung
or anything else, really.

ANY WOMAN WAS AT RISK BURNING IN THE SIXTEEN HUNDREDS

Sisters testified and turned on each other when their babies were held under ice.
Children were tortured to confess their experiences with “witches” by being fake executed in ovens.
Women were held under water and if they float, they were guilty and executed.
If they sunk and drowned they were innocent.

Women were thrown off cliffs.

Women were put in deep holes in the ground.

The start of this madness was years of famine, war between religions and lots of fear. The churches said that witches, demons and the devil did exist and women were nothing but trouble. As we see even today, there is often a scape goat created, and the chaos escalated in Sweden when the Bible became law and everything that did not line up with what the church said became lethal. The Bible fanaticism killed thousands of women.

Everything connected to a women became feared, especially her sexuality.

It became labelled as dark and dangerous and was the core of the witch trials through out the world.

Why do I write this?

Because I think the usage of words are important, especially when we are doing the work to pull these murky, repressed and forgotten about stories to the surface. Because knowing our history is important when we are building the new world. When we are doing the healing work of our lineages and as women. To give the women who were slaughtered a voice, to give them redress and a chance of peace.

It was not witches who burned.

It was women."

What rituals do you have for Autumn? A bit of Yoga? A Morning Prayer perhaps?

Do you have an Autumn Ritual that sustains you through this transitioning time of light?

Rituals can help by promoting relaxation and giving us a calm space for healing.

Incense and wood oils like Sandalwood and Frankincense come to mind, symbolizing communication between ourselves and the spirit.

Of course, Frankincense and the resin of Myrhh were used symbolically to frame the birth and resurrection of Christ.

In Ancient China, the same were used for offerings to ancestors who passed on.

I love meditating with Sandalwood as it brings me home to all the chakras, aligning them, connecting with the spirit, uplifting me, and promoting trust in the universe.

"Sandalwood oil grounds us in a world of sensuous unaffected beauty, like that experienced after a deep meditation or love experience. Sandalwood helps us experience the simplicity and purity of the physical world and experience the immanence of the spirit in the physical world. It helps us reflect internally, balancing the one-sided Western emphasis on the external world. It helps connect us with our soul and our intrinsic wisdom, naturally guiding us into a meditation that integrates our body, mind, and soul." Holmes P. , Frankincense oil. The International Journal of Aromatherapy, 1998-99.

It's World Mental Health Day Today!!

Mental health is such an important part of our overall well-being; however, it is often neglected. One in five people will experience a mental health condition in their lifetime, and yet we are often reluctant to talk about our mental health or seek help.

There are many things we can do to support our mental health such as getting regular exercise, eating a healthy diet, mindfulness practices, and getting enough sleep. Spending time in nature, using aromatherapy, and embracing the philosophy of Stoicism can also help support mental health.

Our Story

I am a wellness coach, Certified Clinical Aromatherapist and herbalist, supporting women over 50 to live healthy, vibrant lives through natural techniques.

I have a year-long wellness coaching program, the Healthy Living Lifestyle Program helping to enhance the lifestyles of women over 50, reversing aging so that they can enjoy life to the fullest.

Having spent most of my 40's in doctor's offices and surgical wards, coming close to a lifetime in a wheelchair, possible blindness, and then facing the future of a self-inflicted and limited retirement, I decided it was time to change my lifestyle.

I went back to school, learned how I was poisoning my body, became a certified clinical Aromatherapist, and herbalist. I learned how to redesign my body for health, and now, in my mid-sixties, I am coaching others to achieve a level of wellness they love.
