Mrs. Tyus is a proud alumna of Lane College, a HBCU in Jackson, Tennessee.
While at Lane she pledged Alpha Kappa Alpha (AKA) and is a member of the organization in Ripley, TN.

With a remarkable career spanning over 35 years as an educator at Lauderdale Elementary School, she has inspired countless students.

Here's to celebrating Mrs. Tyus and the more than 390,000 initiated members of the oldest African American Greek womens organization which was founded at Howard University in Washington , DC on this day in 1908, The organization consistt of more than 1,105 graduate and undergraduate chapters lovated in 14 nations and territories including the United States, Bahamas, Bermuda, Canada, Germany Nigeria, South Africa and the Virgin Islands among other nations.
