When we’re triggered, our brains have enacted a trauma response and our central nervous system takes over. When this happens, we are NOT in the present moment and don’t always see things clearly. It’s important to take a moment to recognize what’s happening to your brain and body and give yourself and your system time to self-regulate. I invite you to try this strategy.

We can get so focused on “big” moments and things that we overlook the little day to day things. But, it’s actually the seemingly little things that are so important! Those little moments and conversations make big impressions over time.

Healing isn’t an easy process and it certainly isn’t linear, but it is worth it! As you lean into your discomfort, it loses power over you. Patience and self-love/kindness go a long way!

Odette, yesterday I dreamt you came back to me. I couldn’t understand how, but it didn’t matter. We were reunited. We were able to communicate and express how desperately we’d missed one another. When I woke up, you weren’t there. The heartache was immeasurable. That’s how grief works. One day we’re okay, another we’re just not. For anyone going through this, my heart goes out to you. Try to patient with yourself. Take care of yourself. Surround yourself with your support system. And remember that the pain you feel is an expression of the love and bond you shared.

What can you do when you’re feeling “off”?
It’s really important to check in with yourself. Observe yourself without judgment. Ascertain, if you can, where these feelings/sensations are coming from. Then, take one small step to help yourself feel better. Do you need to breath, journal, talk to a friend, go for a walk, eat something, hydrate?

People with anxiety typically have awesome imaginations. They imagine something happening & accept it as reality even though the odds are next to impossible. If that kind of creativity and vision were channeled in a more constructive/productive way, we’d not only feel better but the world would look so different! The possibilities are limitless! Creative writing, inventions, art, music, medicine, etc! What’s one way you can get your imagination working for you, not against you?

Often, we project ideas of who we want people to be on them, before we really know them. As time passes, we are faced with significant cognitive dissonance when a person doesn’t behave the way we expect them to. It’s so important to take our time getting to know people. To see if their words and actions are in alignment. To be present for what’s there, not what we want to manufacture.

We learn more from our “mistakes” than anything else, yet we often beat ourselves up for them
What if we could embrace them more? Own them! This is where growth happens!
