So many kids struggle with responsible phone use. Wait until they are developmentally ready for it. Don’t let anyone, including a therapist or social worker, tell you “let them feel normal”. Yes, I have heard parents be pushed into giving their kids a phone with this reasoning. Every Police Officer I’ve seen will disagree because they are the ones that deal with the fallout. They see the consequences of cell phone use. Listen to their advice.

Parents of newly diagnosed kids

It is going to be okay. Your child is still the same child. Your love for them won't ever change.

There will be days that are hard. Heartbreaking even. It's okay to not be okay. Just don't get stuck there. Your child needs you to be strong.

When you think you have it hard, remember, it's harder for your child.

Find your tribe. Find those who support you and understand the path you're walking.

Channel your emotions towards the fight. The fight for services, quality education, and quality of life.

Never give up.

ALWAYS have hope. Your child is going to teach you SO MUCH!

Grief. There are many types of grief that many people don’t understand. Having a child with mental health needs is a specific type of grief that most do not understand. Griefing what you had hoped their life would look like, grieving for them and their struggles, grieving for what you have lost that other parents have (honor roll, homecoming, dances, sports, etc). It’s important to grieve and then find your child’s strengths and celebrate those. Accept the losses and find the joy. Losing a child who is still alive is particularly difficult and there is no joy in that. If you need support reach out to

GREIF- PROOF OF LOVE EVERLASTING 💚

My grief is proof that my love existed.
That it was very real.
That my love continues.
That's my grief.

It took me time to realize all the different types of grief that existed in the world I stepped into.

The grief of a failed adoption of the first child that ever called me mama.

Grief of the family I thought we would be when I did adopt my children and they were so filled with rage that I knew life would never be the same.

Grief over the loss of the future we would have as I grew older and they married and gave me Grandbabies to love on.

Grief over the loss of myself through it all.

Grief when an adoption of 3 more children didn't finalize.

Grief with the thoughts that "it" would never end.

Grief when they were gone.

Grief when I never knew if I would find them again, or if they would find me.

Grief fearing that with each day that passes I could get the call or the knock on the door that one of my children was dead.

There is so much grief, and still so much love. If love could have healed my children they would have healed so fast it would have caused whiplash. I fell instantly in love with all of them immediately. And I wanted to be the best Mama.

I wanted it all.

I have all of the grief now holding me together reminding me that there would be no grief if there wasn't so much LOVE.💚💚

To the parent worried about how to feed their family if SNAP doesn’t get funding next month,
I see you.
You’re not lazy. You’re not a failure.
You’re a mom or dad trying to make something out of nothing. ❤️

When the pantry shelves look empty and the fridge light feels too bright, here are real ways families survive when there’s nothing left to stretch:

🥫 Go to the food pantries.
No shame. That’s what they’re there for. Many don’t ask for proof, just show up.

🍞 Check your local schools.
Even outside of session, some districts give free breakfasts and lunches. You just have to ask.

🥕 Look for community gardens or gleaning programs.
People post extras all the time! apples, veggies, eggs. Don’t be afraid to take what’s offered.

🍳 Cook from the basics.
A bag of rice, beans, or pasta can turn into meals for days. Add broth, canned veggies, or eggs, feed bellies, not pride.

🍼 If you’ve got littles, apply for WIC.
It’s separate from SNAP and still running in most areas.

🧺 Find mobile food drives.
Search “Feeding America” or your zip code + “mobile pantry.”

🧃 Community fridges exist now.
“Take what you need, leave what you can.” Check local Facebook groups.

🍎 Ask for help.
From neighbors, family, church… even a local mom group. People want to help. You’d do the same for them.

💔 And please remember:
You’re not a bad parent because you’re struggling.
You’re a good parent in a broken system.

You’re doing everything you can to keep little bellies full.
That’s love in its truest form. 🤍
