Cooking Hour was a little extra sweet today! We made strawberry milkshakes and they were a hit! Everyone helped scoop the ice cream, pour the milk, and blend everything together until it was smooth and creamy. Of course, the best part was taste testing. 🍓

Cooking activities are always a favorite because they bring back so many memories. Besides being delicious, cooking hour promotes hand strength, coordination, following directions, and sensory stimulation. Measuring, pouring, stirring, and tasting keeps both the mind and body engaged.

We got into the spirit of Presidents Day with a fun and relaxing coloring activity. We spent the morning coloring Presidents Day-themed pages filled with flags, eagles, and portraits of past leaders. It was such a simple activity, but it sparked great conversation about history, favorite presidents, and memories of past celebrations.

Coloring is more than just putting crayons to paper. It helps with focus, hand-eye coordination, creativity, and cognitive stimulation. Love was in the air as we spent the day celebrating Valentine’s Day with a fun craft and some sweet treats to top it off. We got creative by making our own Valentine’s decorations and cards to give to our loved ones!

Crafting helps support fine motor skills, hand strength, focus, and creativity. It also encourages conversation as we get to share stories about past Valentine’s Days and special memories with loved ones. Of course, we couldn’t forget the sweet treats. A little something sweet brings smiles, sparks joy, and makes the celebration feel extra special.

Valentine’s Day painting was a whole vibe as we spent the day creating beautiful paintings filled with hearts, bright colors, and lots of personality. Painting is such a powerful activity as it helps strengthen fine motor skills, encourages creativity, and allows for emotional expression.

Art opens the door to conversation and storytelling. We heard memories of first dates, longtime loves, and Valentine’s Days from years ago while the brushes were moving. There is something special about seeing a blank canvas turn into something meaningful. Add a little paint, a little love, and you’ve got a perfect Valentine’s Day activity! 💕✨

Our movin' and groovin' mornings are always something special. Deb is usually pretty quiet and shy, but the moment the music starts playing you see a whole different side of her. Watching her light up like that is exactly why we do what we do. 🎶

Our morning dance sessions help promote circulation, improve balance and coordination, and keep our residents physically active in a safe and joyful way. The rhythm helps with memory recall, mood elevation, and emotional expression. Everyone finds themselves tapping their feet or singing along. 💚

Teddy toss was a hit! We kept it simple as everyone took turns tossing a teddy bear into a bucket to win a prize. This activity may look playful, but it does so much more. Teddy toss helps improve hand-eye coordination, depth perception, and upper body movement. It encourages focus and patience while also building confidence with every successful toss. 🧸

We took a small group of our residents to visit our local fire station and bring them a little breakfast to say thank you for all you do for the community! Everyone loved meeting the firefighters, seeing the big red engines up close, and asking questions about their day to day work. ☀️🚒

Outings like this do so much more than get us out of the building. They promote social engagement, spark conversation, stimulate memory, and give our residents a sense of purpose by giving back. We are so grateful for our local heroes who welcomed us in and allowed our residents to feel part of something bigger! ✨
