Hand, foot and mouth disease (HFMD) is making the rounds! It is very common, especially in kids under 5, but can affect anyone. Symptoms include fever and red rashes on the palms of the hands, soles of the feet and the mouth which can turn into painful sores or blisters.

HFMD is very contagious, but you can help stop the spread by:

🧼Washing hands often with soap and water

🌮Avoid sharing food, drink or personal items

🧽Disinfecting surfaces and toys

✋Avoid close contact with an infected person, such as hugging or kissing them

Most people recover in 7-10 days without complications. Call your doctor if you and/or you child has signs of dehydration, trouble swallowing or symptoms seems severe.

One Health Day is November 3rd! Keeping animals and the environment healthy keeps humans healthy too! The goal of One Health is to recognize the connection between people, animals, plants, and our shared environment, so we can better work together to achieve the best health outcomes for all.

On this One Health Day we recognize all of our partners, including Riverside County Animal Services, Riverside County Department of Environmental Health, Vector, and Agricultural Commissioner, as well as other community partners, who have joined with us to address One Health challenges such as mosquito and tick-borne illnesses, legionella, rabies, avian flu, food-borne illness, post-flooding response, valley fever, and more.
