This holiday season, we’re sharing a gift that truly matters.

Narcan saves lives. It’s simple to use, safe to carry, and powerful in the moments that matter most. You never know when you might be the reason someone gets a second chance.

Happy Holidays, may we all look out for one another.

Knowing what to do in case of a suspected overdose can save lives. To receive free Narcan, visit one of our facilities or reach out directly to RODA at roda@ruhealth.org. Good news: 20 seconds of handwashing can keep you healthy through the chaos. It's the smallest investment with the biggest return this season—more time celebrating, less time sick.

In Riverside County, due to the implementation of the universal birth dose and the partnership between Public Health, providers and parents, perinatal hepatitis B infection is extremely rare, with no cases recorded in the past five years.

While hepatitis B can be spread from mother to baby, even when a mother receives a negative test, babies can still get infected from close contact with family members or caregivers with the infection or from blood or body fluids on a shared surface. Up to 90% of infants infected perinatally or in the first year of life will develop chronic hepatitis B infection and risk life-long complications.

Riverside University Health System – Public Health, in accordance with the California Department of Public Health, the West Coast Health Alliance, and Public Health departments around the country, supports universal hepatitis B vaccination for newborns, which has reduced rates of childhood hepatitis B, chronic infections, liver disease and cancer.

Hepatitis B vaccination has proven to be safe and effective for newborns. Visit https://ruhealth.org/public-health/immunization-program/hepatitis-b to learn more about hepatitis B and the importance of hepatitis B vaccination.
