Traveled through airports, amusement parks or other high-traffic areas over spring break? Measles might be an unfortunate souvenir. 10-14 days after exposure to the virus, you can notice a prominent rash, a fever that lasts a couple of days, followed by a runny nose, cough and pink eye.

If you believe you have been exposed to measles, please make sure to alert your healthcare provider before you head in to avoid potentially exposing others!

April 10th is National Youth HIV/AIDS Awareness Day.

Young people are the future, and their health matters. HIV continues to impact youth, with thousands of new cases reported each year. Education, testing, and prevention are key to ending the stigma and protecting the next generation. Knowing your status and understanding prevention options like PrEP, condoms and regular testing can make a difference.

There are a wide range of free testing events in Riverside County this month, so make a plan to visit one and learn your status.

Epidemiology is at the core of public health—helping us understand how diseases spread, who’s most at risk and how to respond effectively. From tracking flu trends each season to identifying emerging health threats, epidemiologists turn data into action.

You can see how data shapes Riverside County – past and present – by looking at our Community Health Dashboard:

Back from spring break? Make sure measles didn’t come with your carry-on.

Signs of measles are typically observed 10 to 14 days after exposure to the virus. A prominent rash is the most visible symptom but can also include a fever that lasts a couple of days, followed by a runny nose, cough and pink eye.

If you believe you have been exposed to measles, please make sure to alert your healthcare provider before you head in to avoid potentially exposing others!

Smoke and ash from nearby are impacting communities throughout . It’s important for your health and safety that you protect yourself, take precautions and have an evacuation plan in place.

Wildfire smoke can cause a range of health issues, including burning eyes, runny nose, shortness of breath, scratchy throat, headaches and chest pains. Smoke can also worsen chronic heart and lung disease.

When air quality is poor, it’s recommended to avoid strenuous activity, close all windows and doors, and remain inside with the air-conditioning on. If you have to go outside, wear a respirator.

🚒 Most importantly, if you are ordered to evacuate your home or the area, do so IMMEDIATELY. For current incident information and to sign up for alerts, visit 👉 rivcoready.org.
