Full removal of the dermoid cyst and tract involved Dr. Allak removing the portion in the soft tissue and cartilage/bone of the nose and Dr. Cox our rhinology/sinus surgeon removing the part in her forehead sinus. Careful reconstruction of the outside of the nose involved rebuilding the cartilage and bone to support the structure and breathing function of the nose. Then a significant and complex skin reconstruction to ensure her external scars were not unsightly

She has healed beautifully and is thrilled with her result- as are we!

VERY interesting case alert 🚨

This patient came in with a mass on the bridge of her nose that had recurrent infections and drainage. Drainage was attempted several times by her primary care physician and a dermatologist. There was a small dimple or ‘pit’ at the lower portion and pressure across the bridge was able to express some drainage through it

This is a classic presentation for a nasal dermoid, a congenital midline birth related tract and/or cyst involving different parts of the nose, forehead sinus, and sometimes even the brain! It is lined with skin that can cause recurrent infections

This patient had her tract start above the tip of her nose, tunneling deep to the bridge of the nose and through the bone and cartilage into her frontal/forehead sinus. Pictured is a probe placed into the tract showing the direction of the mass. Swipe to see what it looked like when it was removed! Surgery required Dr. Allak and a specialized sinus surgeon to safely remove the part that was in her forehead sinus.

A 4 YEAR follow up! A powerful way to see the lasting changes from this procedure. The swelling has had time to fully resolve itself this far out from surgery. By reducing her dorsal hump, contouring her bridge, and refining/elevating her tip, Dr. Allak was able to craft a nose that naturally compliments her features. This patient required extensive reconstruction - the young patient had developed basal cell carcinoma on the tip of his nose requiring removal and subsequently reconstruction. Through a thoughtfully planned surgery, Dr. Allak was able to reconstruct his nasal structure and get him back to his normal routine!

Happy Friday! Today we are sharing this before and after ! This procedure is so effective in refreshing the overall appearance of the face. An upper blepharoplasty is a procedure in which excess skin from the top eyelid is removed. It usually takes about 1 hour, can be done in the office or the operating room, and takes 1-2 weeks to initially recover from with swelling improving over time. We hope everybody had a Merry Christmas! Today we are sharing this before and after of a lower lip scar! This patient presented to the office with a scar on her lower lip for which she desired improvement. Lower lip scars can be difficult given the contour of the lip and the thickeness of the scar. Using carefully selected tissue to match the surrounding area is crucial to a seamless reconstruction. Now her scar is hardly visible!
