There is an exciting development in the world of medications.

GLP-1 meds have been a real game changer for Diabetes, WT loss and insulin resistance. They have also been extremely expensive on a cash pay basis and insurance coverage is often spotty.

In the last few weeks a GLP-1 medication has gone generic and now we are able to get a GLP-1 med into the hands of our members for ABOUT $100 a month. It is still an investment but so much better than the hundreds or even thousands of dollars a month for brand name.

These generics are produced in regulated and inspected manufacturing plants and flow through the normal distribution channels used for other generic medications and so have an increased measure of safety.

When one household member becomes ill with influenza others in the home are at much higher risk to become ill.

Often times the rest of the household can be protected from developing symptoms or at least severe symptoms by "chemoprophylaxis" or antiviral drugs given once a day after known influenza exposure.

Conditions like Influenza is where extended hours for Haven members really becomes beneficial.

Oseltamivir is a medication that has been shown to shorten the length of and decrease the severity of an influenza infection.

The problem? It needs to be started within the first 48 hours of symptom onset.

So, often people just "make do" and have a more sever illness than they otherwise would of. Or go to the ER and pay thousands of dollars for a prescription.

Haven is a better way.

We now have nurses in clinic 5 days a week and so our Google profile has been updated.
